The pay per hour and advertised benefits are definitely not worth it for the work, and attitude of staff who break every rule of what a good manager should be!
Problem after problem. You can try hard to do a good job and work hard but it will never be enough. Even the healthiest person will go home shattered and have no energy for their free time or next day's work!
They lecture about health and safety but it's all a facade - it's of a very low standard, most people end up Ill or injured working here it seems!
Left Amazon after a leg injury that wouldn't shift (the L&D department forced me to re-train on Pick after two basic mistakes, a department I didn't even ask to be trained in). The l&d manager was rude about it and Amazon is being investigated by my lawyers due to the above, as well as other mental and physical damage they caused, and lack of company sick pay which I signed a contract for and so they are breaking this by withholding what is owed.
They still owe me hundreds of pounds in sick pay which they keep refusing: my surgery had a back log of sick notes so couldn't get it to me until after 7 days, I explained this and eventually they realised it wasn't my fault but every time you phone to try and sort they promise someone will be in touch and they never are, they just don't take it seriously. Often when you phone up the employee line the staff member will just leave the call when they realise the company has acted wrong-this has happened several times. I'm guessing they are told to do this.
Lots of other complaints to highlight, such as how they are constantly on at you about rates even if you are doing good, and they really over step the mark with this. Stow is the worse, Managers will moan if you leave for break 2 mins early like you have committed a crime, absolutely pathetic, you don't get nearly enough break time as it is. It's all about good numbers because then they get a nice little bonus whereas you'll get nothing for your hard work, they might come round with a sweet if you're good. And I'm not even joking. They will try to give you a freebie here and there like an Amazon branded cup INSTEAD OF PAYING STAFF A DECENT WAGE AND TREATING THEM WITH TEDPECT AND OFFERING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT TO WORK IN.
I had less of a bad experience whenever I packed, managment seemed better there for some reason.
Working here increases repetitive injuries, plus its bad for the mental and physical health. They say they are here to support this, but how about don't cause the issues in the first place!
Constantly getting called in by management and clearly biast HR who were questioning days off that were completely unavoidable. And they tried to take action against me for earlier finish times that management gave to us, when they eventually worked this out no apology-at the time affected my mental health badly as both my manger at the time and her HR buddy were insisting I had done wrong. They go on data without using common sense. Both these people were so rude and unprofessional causing stress as my job was being threatened (this was early on, after a while I would happily leave the job!). This manager at the time was behaving so immaturely too. If you can't remember every single detail of everything that happens whilst you work there they can use it to say you are lying or in the wrong in some way.
Do Not work here, The Swindon branch seems to be one of the worse, too.
L&D was where I worked as a trainer for and that could have been good if done right. But no the main guy in charge and I would say just about everyone but one or two mamagers pretendi to be nice and all 'we are not about the rates just the learning ' attitude but they are about the rates they just disguise it more! And they get staff to do their dirty work!

This is for the yard marshals and gatehouse staff, you have one job and one job only, sit in your chair for 10 hours and make sure you press the green button to open the gate, apparently this is to difficult for their IQ, Amazon will hire anyone with a pulse????

The worst Amazon ever! I've been working on this one for a year and the management is terrible. They don't care about associates, put them to work hard, don't do any new training and keep you there until you die! Don't go there. Try another one! Or try to find another job!
