We?ve been visiting the cafe for years and have had very good food there, if sometimes indifferent service but nice ambience. However this Saturday we had Irish Stew which was almost unpleasant, very bitter and poorly flavoured, my wife could not eat it all, with dry sourdough bread without spread. Very disappointing. Usual British way of not speaking up at the time, but the staff did not question why some was left when clearing up. Maybe time for a change in Stroud.

Entered with just one customer seated and was promptly ignored by the guy (short, dark haired, slightly balding) behind the counter. Quite surreal, he even shouted a query to one of his colleagues in the kitchen who came out and worked out that I was a customer. I asked her about meals available, she sullenly responded that they had nothing available. (At 3pm - they close at 5.30pm)Really bizarre experience - I went round the corner, to Café Max and got exactly what I wanted.

Randomly rude manager. Made me feel really small, ostracised, sad, and not like returning again.

We initially came for milkshakes and since we had to come and order at the bar, there were missing instructions on the menu above the counter: we thought that the milkshakes were made with ice cream (which we got). then discovered by reading the menu on the table that this was not the case) and the "chocolate-cherry" formula was indicated on a piece of paper further down and we therefore did not notice it when ordering. The milkshakes were nothing more, very refreshing but with a passable taste.

Lovely little cafe in the cute art-y, walk-y Stroud... Excellent service. Had the burnt Masapone pie, so delicious I didn't get time to photograph it ????, we sat outside watching the hustle and bustle of this little high street with views of misty hills of The salad Valley in the distance. Excellent service, loos ok 8/10, prices around average, good quality food. What a friendly place to be having a pitstop. Don't change it..

Lovely cafe with really great and interesting options. We loved everything we ordered! Lots of vegan options too. Especially would recommend the sweetcorn fritters! Smoothies great also. Staff were lovely to our dog, offering treats! Would love to go back

I have been coming here for many years. The quality has got even better since Jamie took over in 2020. Yesterday I also had outstanding service from a young woman called Georgie. Woodruffs is a unique and fantastic place. We are really lucky to have a place like this in Stroud. Yet to find its equal elsewhere in the world!

Great brunch spot - the full English was perfect. We did get our drinks order forgotten about, however, so did have to wait a little.

My friend and I recently needed a cafe in Stroud to sit with all our bags for a couple of hours. This place was absolutely lovely! We sat outside having delicious teas and coffees, the food looked incredible, lovely atmosphere, and when someone brought us our drinks and overheard me saying something weird about poison, he effortlessly capped the joke without missing a beat, instead of making me feel like a weirdo. Loved this place

Really nice delicious vegan food. I have sampled the dahl & rice, and the smashed avocado & mushroom on sourdough bread.
Dietary restrictions: Vegan food
