We had an our anniversary meal here and the food was such great quality! We had told them that it was our anniversary night and they gave us complimentary bubbly which was such a lovely touch! We are looking forward to coming here again and tasting the rest of the food they have to offer

Felt invisible.
Turned up on time for our table and waited with drink whilst a table became free. Two parties were then catered for ahead of us. We had to go and remind them we were there (no apology) we then waited and watch whilst staff walked around with no apparent impulse to be there. Eventually a young man walked up with a look of apathy and took our order. We are pescatarian and out of the two dishes we could eat the one we wanted had run out. I don?t wish to spend my money on an experience that left us feeling unseen. It is supposed to be the hospitality sector after all. We went to the glass filled bar to settle up for our drinks and then the one positive action took place, they discounted our drink on departure which was nice but we won?t be back. We had high hopes for our visit and was looking forward to a lovely afternoon. Now it?s takeaway Indian ????

An incredibly long wait fir our food. It was only a sandwich so 40 minutes seems excessive. When it arrived it resembled a meal deal sandwich from Tesco. No salad nor anything on the side. The price was way over the top for such simple fare.

Food was very good. Standard pub fayre, tastey large portions, prices reflecting. Enthusiastic, polite service. Outside area. The pub is a bit run down and not very clean. Shortage of parking as is very popular at the moment. Also dogs in the restaurant? Who needs barking and whining animals at dinner? Should be restricted to bar or outside.

Just returned from a fabulous dinner here with the new managers. What a great place. Staff friendly and attentive. Food all home cooked and delicious. We had gazpacho soup and beef carpaccio followed by cheese soufflé and fish of the day. Finished with sticky date pudding and lemon posset. All beautifully presented and most importantly tasty! Will be back for sure. Highly recommend.

Visited for lunch weekday during visit to nearby Sezincote House.
Very friendly welcome.
Delay serving Butcombe Original as barrel was being changed - no problem waiting for freshly tapped barrel - delicious pint.
Food was very good "pub grub" - much better than a previous experience at another Butcombe pub.
Staff very helpful in splitting the bill between our party.
Overall excellent experience.

We had booked for Sunday lunch
A female waitress was so rude
We were 200miles from home and not knowing the area we decided not to walk out
When the lunch came it was the worst food we had ever presented before us,so we paid up and left, never to come back again

Beware! We booked and paid for a 3 night stay 10 months before our trip through Qantas Hotels. It was supposed to be a relaxing stay in the Cotswolds at the end of our UK trip. However, the day of our stay I received an email from Qantas saying that our stay had been cancelled by the Horse and Groom due to ?seasonal hotel closure?. What? May in the Cotswolds? During mid-term break? closed because of a seasonal hotel closure? The Horse and Groom offered to transfer our booking to another property 20kms away. We accepted the alternate given timing, but it turned out to be a substandard property lacking the features paid for in the original booking and not in a convenient location for exploring the Cotswolds. Beware of booking this property, they do not honour paid bookings or treat customers respectfully.

Dinner on Saturday was excellent we both had delicious food, (best pub pie I've ever had) and its a lovely pub to sit in. The tables were nicely spaced so you could talk privately and the staff were attentive but not annoying, service was fast and friendly, we will be going again soon and would highly recommend the Horse and Groom. (Can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay this time.)
