Came into Hilliers 2 days ago and attempted to buy a garden parasol in the sale. The very nice and helpful young man explained that there was 1 left in stock but he was unable to locate it. Due to the fact there was no duty manager on, he said that he would speak to them and ask if we could have the one in the shop. We have had no reply and so attempted to phone the store using all options 1-4. After 20 mins on the phone I gave up.

First time visit in a while, looking a little 'tired'.

Had afternoon tea for two yesterday afternoon, one sweet and one savoury. Great selection of items, nicely presented and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Came for lunch in the restaurant! Expensive and poor. Quality! Chose the cheese and ham baguette with onion marmalade! awful!!!! Was looking forward to a nice crusty baguette as it should be! It was soggy and definitely not fresh! Too much onion marmalade overpowered everything! Maybe that was the idea to disguise the taste of the rather stale and soggy baguette!
Ended up just eating the ham and cheese which would have been nice had it been housed in a nice fresh crusty baguette with the minimum of the onion marmalade to enhance it! Not totally overpower it!
Served with a very small handful of very wilted and aging lettuce! An expensive experience for £9.00 expected much more for my money!!!

Stopped off at the garden centre which was lovely and a great range of plants and shrubs.
The most disappointing part of the visit was the restaurant, ordered 2 baguettes which was so dry we just ate the filling which was actually ok except far too much onion marmalade.
Food was so much better when we last visited but today well below par

Not the greatest experience considering the ammount of wasps flying around food preparation. Food was okay but poor service.

Simon the chef went over and above to make me a Welsh Rarebit which was delicious even though breakfast had just finished. He has a rare sense of customer service and is so polite and lovely.

Stopped at cafe for bite to eat and drink. We have two dogs and signs stated that dogs are welcome but only in the outdoor area. Although this policy is very rare in garden centres these days I understand that some establishments wish to impose this for hygiene and that not everyone loves dogs.
Food and drink was fine, however it was pouring with rain, the outside area was drenched and no cover provided. A single table was placed just under cover on edge of the main thoroughfare (so not very pleasant) and we got splashed with water running under our table which prevented dogs from settling. In addition our food and drink went cold very quickly.
A request to move inside and sit in a corner away from the other patrons was politely refused; . a shame as the cafe was only 10% full.
So, if you have dogs and the weather is not pleasant I would recommend giving this place a miss.

Happy, friendly and helpful staff, with a smashing breakfast in the cafe, and wonderful fish watching to keep the little ones squeaking with joy! ^_^

Very disappointed with the one in particular woman at the check out who told me and my girlfriend we had to be 25 to buy a garden rake. Not only did we have to wait nearly 20 minutes in the boiling hot centre (23degrees) to get served due to this one lady being on her own she then tells us we cant have the one thing we came for. This however is obviously not the case of having to be 25 as even at 18 you can buy other sharper tools aswell as be classified as an adult. This woman obviously doesn't want young people to be able to start a career. I went to college for 2 years to do landscaping to be told i cant buy a rake needless to say we went else where and got one no issue at all. A while later we did some research and in the uk there is no legal age limit on a garden rake. Wont be using this place again.

Popped in for a quick lunch and a couple of presents. Myself and a friend both had the Wild Mushroom Soup, and I had a slice of mint chocolate shard cake. The soup on the board looked delicious- I fear because it appears a direct copy from the Knorr Professional packaging. What arrived was murky, diarrhoea-like in appearance, grainy and tasteless. The gentleman that served it was lovely, the baguette was fine, and the cake delicious (though I expect pre-prepared). The cafe/canteen itself is immaculate and well decorated. The Garden Centre has a great variety of products, and I'd certainky come back for another look around. I'm afraid, though, that the food let's the establishment down completely. A simple mushroom soup shouldn't be that poor.

Went in to buy garden furniture no one around to help. Asked at one of the tills if someone called be called, no one arrived. Turns out you order it at the tills as well as delivery details etc, which first person mentioned it or a sign to say what to do. With no member of staff around it's difficult to know.
