Typical of whinging pubs who can't make money. Closed Mon, Tues, Weds, when open prices over charged, obviously to make up for only working part time.
I need to update this review, yes its a shame they do not open Mon-Tue Wed however went for a meal on a Thurdsday Lunchtime and it was fantastic so well worth the wait.

So my partner took me here 18/07/2025. And soon saw place it looked really nice. It is set in Mayhill between Gloucester, Forest of Dean, Ross on Wye, Clifford Mesne and Newent. Such a quaint looking place. Walked in and was greeted by a friendly, smiling barman/Waiter. Inside is very old looking but worth seeing. Plenty of seating inside. He was helpful. Sat in the garden and was plenty of seating outside as 3 separate gardens. A really good Menu so much nice choice and special boards where good. I had King prawns and Chicken Breast Salad which was well presented and really lovely. My partner had Steak and said was really lovely as well. So reasonably priced on food and drinks and for such a nice atmosphere and surroundings. Would suggest booking as was busy but I think can turn up for food but might be a wait though I'm sure they would let you know.
We already talking about going again and I would recommend. Definitely worth 5* in my opinion.

Amazing Country Pub, the food was delicious and service was great, although the menu is same at lunch and in the evening which was different, but still really nice.

Had a gorgeous dinner here. The pork belly isn't something I usually go for but it came out perfectly. Very generous portions too which is rare in 2025!
Looking forward to coming back here soon and trying something else. Best pub food I've had in years.

I love this pub!! I discovered it as I have friends that live close. Always good food, make sure you book in advance. Lovely land lord. Great location for dog walks in the woods

My partner and I came here for a late lunch on a Saturday, the staff where awesome and the food was fantastic as was the atmosphere inside and outside (beer garden). Amazing - thank you!! Would highly recommend :)

Lovely dining experience, we were made to feel very welcome and the food was fantastic. Great choice of specials too. Lots of character and endless curiosities to look at inside.
