Amazing food, and the most wonderful atmosphere. Last night, we went for the 7 course taster menu as a birthday treat, and it was such an amazing experience in every respect. The food was quite incredible, from the Welsh Rarebit appetiser through to the desserts, every part of the menu was fresh and exciting.
The atmosphere also was perfect for this type of dining, intimate and personal, and there was the constant feeling that the table servers cared greatly about the guests in the dining room.
Gus was fantastic with the guests through the night too. It was brilliant having the chance to meet the man that put the menu together and cooked such amazing food for us, and such a down to earth person. It was lovely to have the chance to speak with Gus and the brilliant staff following the meal, and ended up buying his book which is a brilliant read and highly recommended.
Thank you all for a memorable experience, couldn't speak higher of the restaurant and how much we enjoyed the evening.

Mixed feelings on our visit, the food was delicious but not good value for money and the service wasn?t great. I?d recommend doing the 5 course menu, as if you do a la carte, it is very bad value as you get tasting menu size dishes, but pay ~£15 for a starter/dessert and ~£30 for a main (£60 total each). Not sure if an error by the servers with dish sizes, but you are effectively getting 5 courses for the price of 3 with the tasting menu. We paid for 3 courses for the same cost as 5 and were expecting larger plates. However they were the same size, as we saw other tables dishes. The same dishes come out at the same time to all the tables, so for each course you are sat waiting for your partner for their different dish.

This was a wonderful experience to have the 7 course menu. We loved every mouthful, it was just bliss. We haven?t stopped talking about it. I rarely give reviews but this was worth one. It was very lovely service and a great cosy Christmas village ambiance too.

Excellent food that does not only look like a piece of art but also (and in my opinion more importantly) tastes incredible. The ambiente is very comforting, familial, and the owner is so friendly. We have loved going there for several occasions and it's always been a great experience. Would definitely recommend to any foodies out there!

Fantastic meal in an intimate and charming family run restaurant. A cut above anywhere else nearby with a really friendly team. The tasting menu was delicious! Highly highly recommended!

Lovely service and excellent food. Parking can be found outside on the double yellow (no parking wardens after 4pm) or the market square. Each course is thought out and delicious. I was full after a seven course tasting menu, we opted out of the cheese course and bill kindly reflected this. There were also canapés and homemade bread, delicious! Liberty was front of house and did an excellent job at looking after us all. I would come here to eat anytime.Vegetarian options: With notice the chef can prepare a tasting menu to reflect your dietary choiceParking: You can park on the double yellow after 4pm- no traffic wardens

A lovely Christmas Eve visit with my son. Thoroughly enjoying his pub grub, my 13 year old relished the quality upgrade in his plate of perfectly cooked venison with polenta and roast beetroot, while I devoured a fabulous piece of Brill with the novel addition of popcorn that added a nice contrast texture and didn't feel at all gimmicky. This family run business offers efficient but relaxed service, a smile and time to chat, all set in an achingly characterful dining room, that feels like home. Lovely accent touches with warm twinned bread to please white or brown lovers, and appetisers of rarebit and a teasing tasty small cup of warm wintry soup. Free council parking nearby and lots of indy shops to peruse if you book for lunch - go for it!

We visited this restaurant following a recommendation from friends who said it was one of the best dining experiences they have ever had. We were treated to one of the best meals that we have ever had regardless of Michelin star status. Each course was packed with exquisite tastes whilst still offering exceptional classic dishes using the best of ingredients. The service was also excellent being friendly and informative. We had the 5 course gourmet menu which at £64 including all the extras was superb value. We will definitely visit again and will tell all our friends not to miss out on this experience.

Been here before and it was amazing so come back but not sure I loved it this time we had 7 course tasters menu started of lovely then haif way thro we had a cheese course never had that before dessert before plus she made us 2 Irish coffees and with cheese never it was very heavy then we had 2 sharing deserts and im the worse person to share food with I absolutely hate people eating of my plate we felt very rushed and it spoilt my night a bit cheese coffee should come at the end thats how I have been all my life never had in in middle of a meal

Such a lovely experience - the food kept coming and coming. We did the 7 course taster but had more food than seven dishes. Was so delicious and so well presented, really beautiful and very different. Such interesting dishes - full of surprises. Great service and lovely environment. Wine was fantastic too.

Superb meal from start to finish.We had some substantial dietary requirements and Kate and her husband dealt with them as if they were no fuss at all- that is what I call excellent customer service.The taster menu is brilliant value for money and my family were delighted with every course.These hard working pair of lovely individuals deserve to succeed and prosper and they are a prime example why we should keep supporting local businesses.Keep up the excellent work Kate and husband, 5 North street is definitely a place I will be returning to!Dietary restrictions: They are extremely accommodating

We went to this restaurant for a special birthday with our friends. The service and food was absolute perfection. We cannot thank the staff enough for such a lovely evening and will definitely be back again soon when in the area.
