I visited Gloucester and had a drink at the New Inn before a Ghost Tour. The New Inn is 600 years old, New Orleans is 300 years old, and Old Trafford is just over 100 years old! Therefore, I am old but not as old as something new.

Went to this pub as it looked like it had a lot of charm but inside it all felt a bit boring no real ambiance even though it was quite busy, it?s also listed as a sports pub but staff couldn?t tell me if they had the international match on tv later the same

They don?t have a review or star option for the food here, so I?m here to rave about the Sunday carvery in this historic old inn and pub! It?s honestly one of the BEST roast dinners I?ve EVER had and it?s great value for the amount of food. There is a buffet option of Beef, Pork and Turkey..always tender and falls apart with a fork and so well seasoned. I always go for the beef. The roast potatoes are crispy and seasoned on the outside and flakey mash inside. The honey roasted parsnips are amazing and the gravy! Great consistency and full of flavour. You could totally get by and have your fill as a veggie only option as well. At £13/person and half price for kids, it?s a great Sunday option?only wish it was available every day of the week.Their service is top notch, with a great mix of regulars/locals and drop ins. Call ahead to book a table on busier/holiday weekends. Fab job to all?see you Sunday!Nearby activities: Cathedral, Gloucester quays and designer outletsSafety: The courtyard is locked overnight and only guests with keyed access can get inWalkability: Right on the high street and 5 mins walk to the bus station and 10 mins to train stationFood & drinks: As mentioned in the full review, it?s the best Sunday carvery I?ve EVER had. Full of flavour, good value and I look forward to it every Sunday. Best roast potatoes and honey roasted parsnips

Stayed here a few times. Interesting and quirky rooms. The whole building is superb; to be honest, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Gloucester!

A lovely old inn! One of, if not the oldest in Gloucester. Friendly staff but most importantly, affordable drinks!! Definitely will

Don't sat anything that management don't like, or they have your money n u end up with a free hotel room in a cell for the night n u get screwed over. I'd highly avoid this hotel and would never stay even if you payed me, I'd book a room in another

Booked a room at The New Inn instead of the usual Premier Inn to try something new and because the room was cheaper than Premier Inn. Wish I had paid the extra!Good points:The New Inn itself is full of beautiful ye olde world charm with original wooden beams, crooked windows, uneven floors and a maze of corridors and doors. The room itself had a very low beam that even at 5ft 2 inches, my head could touch it! I felt like a giant!Bad points:The room I was given faced the covered courtyard (which sparkled with lights), which is part of the pub area. The pub was open late with karaoke until midnight. The window was single glazing and did not shut properly (part of the charm of an old building) which meant the noise of every badly sung note (and the good ones!), drinks being ordered, sad jokes and chat up lines plus the smoke from those taking a break from life drifted up into my room. This probably wouldn't have been so bad if the bed was comfortable. However, I felt like I had a bed that was as old as the Inn itself, with springs galore digging into me so much that I am inclined to book a chiropractor to help realign my back. The breakfast was the same price as Premier Inn but much lower in quality and quantity with the two saddest fried eggs I have ever seen. The vegetarian sausages cooked to order were practically inedible, dry and literally grey in flavour. The coffee was very disappointing. As I was packing, housekeeping walked into my room without even knocking.Overall, the New Inn itself is an amazing building in a great location but not worth the convenience, the money or back ache.
Poor girl was run off her feet she seemed to be working the bar plus serving food my order was wrong but she was to nice to say

Review a only for the accommodation and property character. Didn't get to experience it's other amenities. Very nice property steeped in history. Would like to return to sample a fuller experience and staff interaction. If it's as welcoming as it's historic charm it will be a good return
