Pub empty yet 40 minute wait for food and hardly anything available. Very disappointing as drove a long way to meet someone for a business meeting. Left without eating, waste of time

I've driven past this pub dozens of times on the way to other destinations, so decided to actually stop for a change.
We were welcomed by the very cheery landlady. The inside of the pub is just how you would imagine from the outside - Cotswold stone, old timber panelling and flagstone floors.
We just had ciabatta sandwiches for lunch, but they were very generous portions and everything was fresh and tasty. The copious amount of chips they came with were cooked properly too!
I would recommend this as a break in your journey, you won't be disappointed.

Hidden gem with a lovely garden (too hot today though). Great selection of food and all were delicious. Some had the roast dinner which looked great. I had the ham salad which was delicious. The ham was thick cut and excellent. Very accommodating staff. We will definitely be going again.

Steve and Jules were fantastic hosts. The food was out of this world as was the welcome. Would thoroughly recommend this pub. Great vegetarian options too. Will definitely come again!

If you can drive or have friends who can drive, why are you not coming here? Vegan or vegetarian, have no fear - they've got you covered with the most delicious options - gluten free to boot (can't even tell).
I had the bangers and mash with caramelised onion and lord haffa mercy, what a delight.
All the staff and management are lovely, and you end it with the delicious and fresh vegetarian apple pie with a lovely dollop of vegan vanilla ice cream, just heaven.
Lots of seatings and wonderful beer garden.
We came here after a 3 hour walk of the Brimpsfield to Caudle circuit walk.

Sorry for the delay in writing a review. This refers to 20/06/25, my wife and I were driving to London that day. On Birdlip hill which was the usual stop start affair, we suffered a coolant failure. I nursed the car to the Golden Hart car park and asked the landlady (Julie) if any one had any antifreeze I could use. She duly rushed off to ask her husband (Steve) if he could help. He found anti freeze for us but it just ran out again. They made us very welcome, we therefore sat down with some drinks and a decent lunch and phoned the RAC.
The RAC was a tale of woe and very bad service, we phoned them at 12.45hrs and by 19.30hrs will still had not seen hide nor hare of the little gits. Both of our hosts where splendid not only did they assure us that we could stay as long as it took they also said that we are not to feel obliged to purchase drinks or extra food. We ignored this bit. A little later when the RAC had still not shown themselves, we were offered a bed for the night and an early breakfast. How this sorry tale ended is of no concern, the only thing that needs to be said is this. Our day started out very badly but with the kindness and help from two very decent human beings we ended up a lot less frazzled and possibly, quite laid back.
To Julie and Steve, many many thanks for your lovely service, we will be back again when we are passing. You two deserve success.

Lovely little pub, ate as a group of 4 adults and 4 children. Food was lovely and fresh, big potions. Staff were great! We would visit again

A friendly welcome in a Proper Pub with delicious (we had the Venison Pie) food. A random find for which we count ourselves extremely lucky.
