Called in by chance as many places nearby were closing early as it was Sunday evening and had the most amazing Sunday roast ! huge portion with lovely fresh vegetables , very friendly service , would highly recommend. New owners now with a much improved menu.

Brilliant service and tasty food. Lovely sitting outside in the sun and staff offered blankets when sun disappeared. Fast service and checking in to ensure drinks and food kept coming.

Had a wonderful relaxing afternoon sat on Coal's terrace watching the tennis on the big screen in the square. Enjoyed some lovely wine and a few G&T's with my wife on our anniversary, and later some delicious food. Service was friendly, relaxed and attentive to all, not just us. Thanks to all for making us welcome.

My daughter just got married and she and her husband hosted the guests here for a post-ceremony dinner. It was lovely, the food was good and the portions generous, and the staff was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Highly recommended.

I believe they have lost idear of pay for what you get .
The meals priced ok and ok all enjoyed .
The price to buy bottle cider at 6.00
Bottle doombar 5.90
Peroni pint 6.30 extortionate.
21.0 sirloin poor quality 15.0 would been nearer value .
And to add 12.5% service charge with out even considering would we like to offer one a really RUDE Bad way to run a bissiness. and got to piont I think disgusting! Staff go for job and know the wage . So to do your job your paid and know terms . Not going be in hurry going back . Places and fairer priced .

Had our wedding reception in the back of the restaurant. It was an absolutely lovely experience, all of the staff were very nice and helpful, checking in on us regularly to make sure we were ok. Let us create our own custom menu and we?re extremely accommodating for anything we needed or wanted. An absolutely lovely atmosphere with the music and the lovely ambience of the restaurant. All of this is thank you to Josh, who made sure everything was perfect for us and kept in contact so it was something we didn?t have to worry about at all. Overall an absolutely amazing experience, I would HIGHLY recommend for events and just a casual dining experience.

Could not recommend Coal Kitchen enough. Service was amazing as soon as we walked in, super accommodating with the baby, and Josh and team could not be more helpful in going through the menu item by item to reassure us against dairy intolerance (my friend claims the best service experience she?s ever had). Follow up service email is a great touch. Thank you Josh and team, if we?re ever back in Gloucester we?d 100% return!

Booked this expecting nice food and cocktails, however me and my friend were severely disappointed. The signature cocktails were awful and we found that we could get better food at Wetherspoons, despite the presentation of our food being much better! The staff weren?t very attentive to our needs, so we were shocked to realise that the 12.5% service charge was mandatory! Very over priced experience, we will NOT be returning
