Went as a group of 4, warm welcome and really fabulous food. I had hake with mussels, prawns and scallops, delicious. Pigeon pie and lamb were also rated very highly, thank you we'd love to come again

Stopped in as it was on the route we were taking and it looked inviting. Not disappointed, friendly village atmosphere, we both had haddock and chips beautiful light batter allowed the flavour of the fish to be enjoyed.
Definitely recommend and return if we visit the beautiful Forest of Dean area again ?

Turned up at 535pm on a Sunday, having walked from a local holiday site and the pub was closing despite an advertised closing time of 6pm. Asked the barman if he would do us a drink given our long walk but he said no as he cashed up 10 mins ago. Pretty poor!

Went for Sunday lunch today. Had roast beef. It was delicious in a welcoming relaxing atmosphere. Everyone friendly and the puddings were amazing too. Definitely not one to miss!

Quite an extraordinary experience - unacknowledged 1 star Michelin food in the middle of nowhere! We were up visiting Tintern Abbey and made our way to Staunton based on the reviews. Menu was varied without being overwhelming, the food was amazing, and the service impeccable. Cost for 2 including 2 courses and non-alocholic drinks just over £50. Highly recommended - we're thinking of relocating from Berkshire for the pub alone .... it was clearly one of the hearts of the community as well. Everyone knew everyone. Happy Days.

The Sunday roast was filling and delicious.
Helpful and attentive staff. Moved us to a different table when we asked.

Booked a table of 8 for my mums 60th birthday. Welcoming initially and attentive to table. I ordered a vegetarian dish which unfortunately had two small bits of meat in it. I flagged this up to staff who became very defensive stating that this 100% did not happen in their kitchen and it must of happened at the table. I was very calm and not aggressive atall. There was no offer to remove the meal from the bill (I didn?t eat half of it) and when I asked if this would be possible due to the situation was simply told ?No? and again told that it must of been our fault at the table. The chef also appeared as we were leaving and again stated that it was not his fault and that sometimes vegetables can be chewy so perhaps it was that. I felt very disappointed and hurt in this whole situation (I rarely complain about anything!). Honestly - the worst customer service I think I?ve ever come across in a pub. Would NOT recommend.

Dropped in without a reservation and ate a quick meal in the lovely garden. Food quality really good, service with a smile, and reasonable prices. Definitely going back for the roast dinner.

Beautiful dining room, but the food is even better.
Outstanding food for all 7 of us.
Definitely the best place in the Forest for food.

Quite simply, one of the best pubs I have ever visited largely due to a fantastic front of house team and chef.
We visited as part of a large group (12) over a June weekend.
All of us had a two course meal. I think everyone ordered something different off the menu.
Food came out very delicious and fast. Chef was even able to make something off menu (and quite exciting in its own right) for a member of our party was gluten and lactose free.
Trying other people's food, I don't think there was a single dud order, everything was terrific.
Also I had probably the best alcohol free beer of my life! If I could have it again, I'd probably chose it over 95% of alcoholic varieties it was so good.
Bravo Team, Bravo

We enjoyed a visit to this very dog friendly pub in the village of Staunton. We were immediately welcomed with our two dogs. We sat in the lovely garden which is spacious and well kept.
The food is home cooked with fresh vegetables and is extremely tasty and well presented.
The service was efficient and all the staff very friendly.
We would definitely recommend this pub a visit.

Traditional British meals, but absolutely great quality!
We had a peppered pork pie, and some liver and onions. Never had liver cooked that well before, spot on!
The staff were super friendly, and as an added bonus there were two pub dogs walking around. Loved our visit
