The location was lovely. Me and my fiance got engaged here. Ruined by the host, Erica who blamed us for her faulty Glamping gear and when our clothes and luggage got soaked, offered nothing in return.Stay away from the glamping, it's all cheap amazon stuff.

Never had a lodge stay before, but if they're all as good as this I will definitely do more! Very clean well provided and presented, in a really good location to access lots of areas of the forest for walking and numerous good gastro pubs within a 5 minute drive , plus the hot tub is amazing, loved a soak first thing watching the bird's on the feeders, do yourself a favour and stay here ?

We stayed for a week in Kensley Lodge with my husband?s brother and wife . We loved the amazing location in the Forest ; close to the Speech House and lots of the local walking areas , 20 mins from Monmouth , Symmonds Yat , Lydney . The outdoor space is wonderful , paved seating / eating area , with large hot tub . The hot tub is cleaned daily and was a real treat . The inside of the cottage , to us was dated and very cramped . The downstairs area has a bathroom which opens onto the main living and eating area . At the moment the shower leaks badly - which the owner is aware of , advising us to put a flannel under the glass screen to stop this - which despite all our attempts didn?t . Kitchen area is tiny , fair enough but it isn?t well equipped , no trays , very limited and hotchpotch cutlery , utensils . Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms - divided by a stud wall , you can see light coming through the side of the beams , and can hear every movement or word from your neighbours . The left hand bedroom has a low wardrobe and a dressing table . The right there is a full sized wardrobe - but limited standing room to the right of the bed , and no mirror ! Great if drying your hair . Both rooms have single velum windows making them crazily hot ! This could be a really wonderful cottage if it had the right attention to detail and updating / upgrading .

Our bath plug was broken from the start and we were unable to empty the bath. When I WhatsApp the owner, Erica, she sent her reply text to me instead of her cleaner, Tash , and I quote - - "When you're up there the idiots in Danby lodge have managed to get the plug stuck in the bath and they can't get it out" We were shocked and upset that she would speak about any gusts like that. The cleaner came the next day and confirmed the mechanism was indeed broken and a new part would be ordered. We were to carry on emptying the bath with a corkscrew from the cutlery drawer. Erica never apologised following the cleaners visit nor did she offer anything as a goodwill gesture. Over £700 and that was the level of care and consideration we received. Tash the cleaner was as helpful as she could be. We feel greatly let down by the owner Erica. Of the place - good location on the edge of the forest, great for bikes. Watch out for wild boar. Nearest town Coleford is a bit run down but the Lidl there appears really well stocked with good quality fruit. There are 3 dog walking fields with poo bin very near the lodges. Popular and nicely kept spot for the locals.

We arrived at this place and immediately found that a lightbulb to a main room was not working which instantly didn?t set us off on the right foot. We then had a powercut the second night which is something that cannot be helped and we were left without power for at least 20 hours. We were never notified about when the power was going to come back on and that then lead to No heating or any hot water. To add insult to this injury our food which we had brought up then had become spoilt due to inadequate cooling from The fridge and we had to bin £40 worth ! We were not even given any blankets to keep warm or offered a cool box to keep our food from spoiling so we were forced to go out and spend even more money to keep us from going hungry. We were only given one lantern to help us get around between 4 people ! The hot tub wasn?t working either . We couldn?t charge our phones then as they all died . And not once during this time, did we have a knock on our door to apologise about the inconvenience, and we were not even offered anything to help us keep warm in freezing temperatures! Avoid this place as they are so obviously in it for the money and the money only.

My family, husband and I, along with my daughter and partner?s dog spent four wonderful nights in a Golden Oak lodge. The lodge itself was wonderful, very spacious, well equipped, clean and very comfortable. We had the added luxury of a gas bbq and a large jacuzzi on our decking. As we had travelled over 250 miles to meet our daughter, her partner a dog there, we arranged a tesco delivery of everything we needed for the stay. The delivery was on time, and the driver even delivered to our cabin. Fantastic. As this was our first holiday during the covid pandemic, we chose this as we knew we would feel safe in our surroundings and have a well deserved relaxing break. The weather was really kind to us, so we took full advantage of the beautiful walks, rewarded by a bubbling jacuzzi to ease our exercises limbs. We made full use of the bbq and spent our evenings sat outside on the decking enjoying our beautiful surroundings. We had taken a couple of board games with us too, that added to our enjoyable evenings. The beds were very clean and comfortable, and blackout curtains should you wish to sleep in that little bit longer. Why not? You?re on holiday. The kitchen was well equipped, and included a dishwasher. There were even 5 complimentary dishwasher tabs to use. Along with the few I had taken, just in case, we managed very well. What a lovely family time we had. I would most certainly recommend this holiday to anyone who likes to chill, enjoy nature, anyone who enjoys the freedom to explore knowing there is a fantastic team hidden away in the background looking after you and out for you. Thank you so much. Xxx

Beautiful location with plenty of lovely walks and plenty to do . Lovely lodge , very clean and well equipped . Every lodge has its own hot tub . Would have given 5 stars if it hadn?t been for the issues we had with our hot tub . Firstly we could not get the cover back on once we had finished even though we tried many times . Had to contact maintenance to do it . The hot tub was too close to the fence . Also on our last afternoon we opened the lid to discover the water level had dropped and we then waited 3 hours for someone to sort it out . He topped it up but too cold to use . Having said that Chris was really helpful and we were grateful . Only other criticism is that there was not enough light over the hot tub and in the pitch black it was quite dangerous as you couldn?t see the steps to the hot tub . Overall a lovely break and would definitely recommend

One of the so-called clamping pod bed was nothing more than a cheap piece of foam folded in the corner Ridiculous to advertise this as a four bed clamping pod
