This hotel is overall extremely good although there are a few tweaks that could make it even better. Staff generally friendly and amenable, for e.g they remembered my request to bring my husband a candle on his desert, I asked for avocado with my smoked salmon and scrambled egg breakfast and it was no problem and not charged extra! And we were able to walk back to our room after spa in our robes. Steak for dinner was really tasty. It's a shame there is no swimming pool in the spa and / or more / better spa facilities but they were lovely and clean. The continental breakfast cereal was little disappointing but cooked breakfast choices great! One other other thing that would improve it is body cream included in toiletries provided, as well as more shower gel. Would return.

Really quaint place, super helpful and accommodating staff. Location is convenient to the town of Cirencester, and we were able to easily walk or bike to town. We really enjoyed the food at the restaurant in the hotel. Two meals specifically came to mind, perhaps the best fish and chips we had in all of England as well as a really lovely chicken dish one evening. The staff became familiar with us and gave us excellent service our entire stay.

We didn't stay in the hotel, but visited the restaurant for my husband's special Birthday. The food was exceptional and the service excellent. The wine was delicious too. We had our dog so sat in the bar area. Nice to be able to take her and have some delicious food. The service was second to none, the staff were so nice and kind We would definitely return if in the area again. I would like to stay at the hotel it looks lovely.

We found the staff to be lovely, breakfast was good, although coffee was not great and we couldn't drink it. The hotel has the potential but needs money spent on it. Having stayed before with previous owners (and it had needed TLC then), we asked for a refurbished room. Were told we were in the new wing and not old part of house, so would be refurbished room. The room was a good size and yes did have a refurbished bathroom but the smell in the room was of must, mould and damp . We had to fling window open for ventilation. Other guests told us that their rooms had the same smell. On leaving glanced up from car park to the rooms on our floor and could see every window open. This was not just for airing the room whilst getting ready for next guest. Take a look at photo of our window and make up your own mind. It would have been nice to have a bottle of water in the room, but ours didn't have any, although we saw them in the corridor next day and wondered if our room should have had some.

The outside looks lovely and it gave the impression there was something good to be had here. The pictures are VERY deceiving. Arrived - car park full of badly parked expensive cars whose owners clearly don't care for others - we just so happened to stay when there was a group of about 40 very obnoxious guests. The reception is dingy with outdated carpets which looked dirty. Got our room key, stayed in room 10. Paid for a deluxe King with the expectation of a bath (as advertised) no bath. OK, these things happen. Then I have a look at the room and there are crumbs all over the floor, finger prints on the TV screen, an unclean toilet. I spoke to reception who sent someone up to look at these things and they did hoover and sort these issues out for which I was very thankful. Sadly, I did go on to notice there were hairs in the bed (not mine) and a piece of old chocolate melted in to one of the seats. The kettle was absolutely filthy and I could tell the shower could do with a decent spray of vikal. I learnt to limit my surprise at the dirtiness of the place- they don't even provide you with hand soap. The walls need to be repainted or at least whiped down - absolutely covered in spillage marks. The skirting boards are chipped to high heaven, its dusty and the carpets are stained. It's just not worth the money we paid. Bit sad, as it was supposed to be a get away trip after a traumatic death in the family. Instead, I'm just miffed at having spent so much. On the plus side, the staff are generally OK, the bed was comfy and the views, spa and bar area are nice.

Spa day - unfortunately we had such a bad experience, we tried to book online and had some issues so called to book was very excited for our spa day and received a email with the lunch menu which I asked to be sent, arrived on the day filled in our forms, said what time our treatments had been booked in for handed our forms back to be asked lots of questions and then informed we can?t find the booking! Waited patiently while the receptionist rang someone basically to be told not sure what?s going to happen but they will see if they can get a therapist in to do our treatments however we waited over an hour and still not been informed what was happening so headed back to reception to be told still no news..at this point decided we had enough and said we was just going to go was told we could stay and pay £25 to use the facilities for 3 hours which includes a small jacuzzi with 10+ people using the facilities all waiting to get in the jacuzzi! So disappointed and during the time we had waited a lot of confusion over other guest treatments and times, would be a lovely place if not so overcrowded and very un organised, my friends dressing gown had a huge whole down the side, was a dirty cup under one of the few sun loungers and the experience shower didn?t work, luckily we rang another local spa help save our day, so it was ruined especially as it was for my birthday and my friend had booked the day of work.

Wonderful experience in the spa. Excellent treatments and a very good deal, including lunch. Cannot find any faults in the SPA. Food, however, very poor. Meal different to that on the menu. We were told the chef changed the menu the night before so no mushroom sauce on the chicken, no green beans and no apology. The waitress was sent to explain but manager was nearby and said nothing. Waitress was very nice and did her best. My daughters birthday meal was anaemic chicken 2roasted spring onions half carrot half parsnip layered potatoes and no sauce. We did not pay, in the end, but a sorry would have made it much better. Such a shame as we love the place.

Room (308) was OK apart from being a bit tired. There was a musty smell around the the bed area that we couldnt pinpoint. I had to spray underarm on the bed to get to get rid of it, but didnt have much effect. The bathroom had a corner bath in it which we liked and the room also had a large sofa to sit on. Staff were very pleasent and the resaurant was nice. Looks like they are trying to invest in the place but half way through. There was a lot of stuff in corridors that could have been moved out of view (easy win). Breakfast was OK for £12.50 each, but Ive had better from cafe's for a bit cheaper. Paid £124 for the night and thort that was a bit over what its worth. Probally wont visit again untill the refurb has been done.

Very over priced - it?s a 3* hotel. We paid £175 for one night which did not include breakfast. When checking in we were asked if we wanted breakfast an additional £30 for 2, we asked if we could decide in the morning but we had to let them know that evening if we did! We chose not to! Our room was ok, small, nothing special. As a hotel guest I thought I would be able to use the spa facilities but I would have to book an 80 minute treatment for the use for an hour only. In my opinion this accommodation is not good value and would not revisit.

We staid 3 nights in this lovely country hotel while visiting Gardens and towns in the Cotswolds. Lovely room but beware some are very small. No lift and no safe. The breakfast was very good and the dinner also. You have to order dinner in advance

Lovely restaurant attached to this lovely, substantial old property. All staff were very friendly and natural. The food was excellent, steak cooked as I requested. The wine list was reasonably extensive which catered for all tastes. Well woryh a visit. The rooms were spacious and clean.

Lovely spa trip over two nights at this very elegant hotel near Cirencester. Food was excellent - special thanks to chef Eduardo who created a fabulous lamb dish on our second evening. Great breakfast choice and immaculate egg cookery. Rooms are very good and comfy with large beds. Reception service by Jesse was amazing, going above and beyond to find a ground floor room for our injured friend. Shame James was not so accommodating - he couldn't be bothered to check if any of our rooms were ready a bit early at check-in. This would have been useful for us to get ready for our Spa treatments, such a shame for our first impression of the hotel! Luckily everyone else was as nice as Jesse. Special thanks to Andrea and Lara - our waitresses who were were lovely. Percy who looked after at breakfast and the very pleasant spa staff who couldn't do enough to help. I cannot recommend highly enough - just don't try to check in before 3!!

This was our second visit to The Stratton House Hotel. It?s a lovely place to stay just a short, level walk from Cirencester town centre. We upgraded our room and were very pleased with it. Antique furniture with a lovely view of the garden. Nice shower room and lovely towels. A more plentiful supply / replenishment of toiletries would have been nice but I?m sure we could have had more if we?d asked. The breakfasts were excellent. The hot options were freshly cooked to order and everything was tasty and a good quality. The staff are wonderful - so helpful and friendly. They really make the place. One slight gripe - it was difficult to get a seat in the lounge on the return from a day out as they were busy with afternoon teas. Perhaps they should consider a larger lounge area. We didn?t try the spa but hope to if we return.

A charming period privately owned hotel with spa located approx one mile from Cirencester. Beautiful flagstone floors, Jacobean beams and fireplaces. Public rooms are very intimate and tastefully appointed with club chairs and board games. Delightful arrangements of china plates as a wall decoration ensemble and rococo mirror in the lounge. Attractive bar with beams, it?s a shame there aren?t any log fires, there is a spacious dining room. I particularly liked the tasteful use of Sanderson wallpapers in the bedrooms and restaurant combined with pastel shades. Beautiful bedroom with comfortable zipped and linked bed. I appreciated the fact that the central heating was on during most of the afternoon. The bathroom was luxurious with expensive fittings including an innovative backlit LED mirror, a minor criticism was I found it difficult to exit the bath as there were no grab handles. The staff were charming and the breakfast buffet and cooked meals excellent. I had a problem checking in as Groupon had not referred my booking to the hotel, but it was resolved. The car park is free and adequate. Some confusion arose over the spa as it is not made clear that it is chargeable extra, however in view of the incredible value the hotel represented and the fact they need to restrict spa numbers it is understandable.Be careful when you drive to the hotel as the access is very restricted and you may end up entering the adjacent pub by mistake or going down Barn Way make sure you see the hotel signs first. All in all a wonderful hotel I shall be back!

The hotel could be amazing, but a number of things let it down. We arrived early and room wasn?t ready - no problem (we were early after all), so we checked-in in terms of paperwork etc and then went off for the afternoon. We returned to get keys and take bags to room etc and the receptionist (different to earlier) first couldn?t find us and then did, and then claimed we hadn?t paid, which we had when did the paperwork earlier in the day, she questioned it a few times before then finding the payment?apparently the original lady had put it in the wrong place on the system - no apology just blame for the colleague. No fewer than two other people had various problems with check in including no record of booking despite them having confirmation. If you are there on a Thursday night, and in certain rooms, be aware you may get a wake up call around 6:45 on Friday with the bins being emptied right outside your window?especially noisy when the glass bin is emptied! Appreciate that on the face of it there is nothing they can really do about it and the bins need emptying, but expect this type of thing to either be made aware of when checking-in or to move the bins to a different location either permanently or the night before ready for the collection in the morning away from rooms. Some slightly disappointing small things like a cracked window pane and broken window handle, and no shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries on etc, which are easy wins. Breakfast was on of the true strengths - very good. Overall the hotel is trying to be more than it is?perhaps it is trying to be ?on the way up? - if so good luck to them, but in the meantime play to your strengths, get the small things right and don?t try to punch above your weight too early.
