I stayed here recently with my family. I did not have much planned and was kind of overwhelmed about the area, until I spoke to the receptionist Donna, she was super helpful and went above and beyond for me. She gave me the best advice on what was good in the area, thanks to her me and my family had an amazing stay. I would stay again A+

Never had a bad time here before but sadly seems to have lost its edge, took 2 hours to get food, we were starving, had booked early for a reason, my young daughter was almost asleep before got food and the rest of the entire restaurant got food before us, we were the first to arrive by prob half an hour or more. Food was good but not as outstanding as it use to be, not even an offer of discount, refund, mild apology. After 10+ years of frequenting this beautiful pub this is likely our last visit, perhaps its changed hands.

We stopped for a meal on Friday at 6.30pm, service was really slow. We stood at the bar for 10 mins before being shown to the restaurant. The table had people constantly rushing past to get to a function room. The food was good when it finally arrived, was well priced but small portions. Our drink order arrived as we finished eating. The restaurant, bar and toilets all need re-decoraring as they are all looking a bit tatty. The staff were nice and friendly. Not sure we would visit again or recommend.

My friends and I eat at the Cross Hands regularly. Donna & the other staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is fab. The restaurant is clean and there is a good selection of wines.

Went for our usual Thursday pub quiz. Good pub food, drink and the quiz to boot ?. All the staff friendly and attentive without being intrusive. A good time had by the 5 of us.

I booked a room for my brother and I for a short stay. Was assured over the phone that we would have two separate beds in a double room. We arrived to find that we only had one small double bed. The lady fibbed on the phone on confirmation.Breakfast was fine. But the hotel is a little tired and could do with a paint.

Stopped here for lunch. Big mistake. Everything is very tatty and needs a lot of attention. Grass not cut in garden area, ashtrays overflowing with cigarette ends. Service was terrible, waited well over an hour for food, when it came after chasing it up, the order was wrong, took 10 minutes to bring back what should have been a smoked salmon sandwich but was the same piece of grilled salmon they had sent out previously, only much drier as had been recycled. When we tried to complain there was no manager available and no resolution to our complaint. Would not recommend and would never stop here again.Food & drinks: Horrible, would not recommend.

Roast sunday lunch very poor. Brought wrong order and then were impolite about it. Meal itself was a great disappointment, vegetables not freshly cooked and meal was not hot. Will not go again.Food & drinks: Very poor sunday roast.

We had room 12 where the Queen stayed in 1981 and it looked as though it hadn't been decorated since then! Chipped paintwork, bath panel damaged and the sofa had stuffing hanging out of both sides! Dinner was fine although 3 meals were off the menu and they'd run out of 1 beer. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was a fiasco. We ordered scrambled eggs and smoked salmon but 35 minutes later it still hadn't arrived so we walked out. Service very amateurish. We were very disappointed and would not recommend and would certainly not go back.Rooms: Room 12 is very shabby

Cant comment on the rooms, but the steak was pretty much cremated when I asked for rare, same with the others at our table. Upon returning to the car, it had been keyed. Can't say whether that was a coincidence or not, but when I asked them to contact me once they had reviewed CCTV there was no follow up. I had to chase weeks later. All in all therefore not an experience I want to relive.Food & drinks: Drinks at the bar absolutely fine, food needs work
