We were warned in an email about refurbishments - we weren't told the whole of the c14th Manor House was closed and no part of our stay featured any building older than 30 or 40 year old extensions. Our Room smelt bad and in daylight we found mould on the walls and blown plasterwork where the damp course had been breached for quirte a while. Whilst we were offered an alternative the original room should never have been in use. We weren't given any refund for the upheaval of moving rooms or discomfort of sleeping I a mouldy room. When a hair was found in the food the waiter just laughed and said the chef was bald! Not quite the luxurious stay I hoped for.

Stayed at charingworthmanor for a break to celebrate our 20;th wedding anniversary, rooms were dated and disappointing, as we booked a deluxe room, dripping taps , noisy hot water tap, drain smell from bathroom and directly next door to kitchen, so noisy early and late . service and food amazing and 5star but price needs lowering to reflect bedrooms badly in need of renovation. We complained on check out and got £30 off , not enough considering what we paid in total.Still no reply from our email to the manager , only did this because wewere sent an email asking our views .

We visited the hotel last week for a two night break with dinner, bed and breakfast. Loved our deluxe room which was very spacious and had a lovely roll top bath. Evening meals were excellent quality - I'm a foodie and couldn't find fault with any of it. All the staff were very helpful and cheerful, would recommend - good value for money we felt. Location with great near to lots of the pretty villages.

My clubs Christmas lunch with ladies. No one stayed overnight. Had the Orangery to our group of 40. Excellent service. Greeted well by friendly, efficient staff. Very nicely served Christmas lunch of three courses plus drinks, mince pies and chocolates along with coffee and tea.Nice choice of food for each course. Well presented and tasty.A most enjoyable get together. Thank you.Food & drinks: Good choice of festive fare.

We booked a dinner, bed and breakfast getaway on Secret Escapes and what an absolute delight it was. We arrived about 5pm, struggling to find where to park in the dark. There?s obviously some building work going on as we couldn?t see the entrance, however once we finally got inside after bumbling around and falling into shrubbery like a couple of very unskilled burglars, we were warmly welcomed and showed to our room which was really nice and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was a bit dated and needed some repair work (cracked tiles, flaking paint etc) but was very clean. We had a hot tub room but it was a bit chilly to try that out!Dinner was in the Orangery, which sadly isn?t in the main Manor House? In fact, I?m not sure we were actually in the main part of the Manor House at all during our stay. However, the food was absolutely incredible with great vegetarian options (I?m going to dream about the butternut and goats cheese wellington omg) and beautifully presented, and service was warm and friendly. The only disappointment was that we didn?t get to nose around that gorgeous Manor House at all. We?ll definitely be booking to go back once the refurbishment is complete. The grounds are stunning and it?s so peaceful and lovely - there?s even a gorgeous indoor pool. Highly recommended ?Nearby activities: There are some gorgeous towns to explore just a short walk away.

We were on a week-end break with our dog. The staff and service at the hotel is second to none. Attentive, professional and polite. There was a dog pack in our room on arrival which consisted of a dog bed, food bowls and a gift bag which included a ball, poo bags and some treats. Our room was large and the bed was comfortable, although the ensuite bathroom was a little tired and dated. The swimming pool is lovely but I think they could do with some loungers so you can relax after a swim. No sauna/steam room or jacuzzi. The grounds are beautiful, well kept and the views are superb.

We were in a bridge break. There was no choice of meal at dinner and what was served was ok but not special. One meal was cottage pie not what you expect from what is a more up market hotel than the ones we usually go to.We also had to sit at same tableWhen we asked for a door to be shut as I was in a draft the response was an emphatic no and then unbelievably you chose to sit there!Lovely location and lots of places to visit nearby which is just as well as lunch prices extortionate as was the wine. There is nowhere within walking distance so keep that in mind if you don't want to dine here.Several people on our break had been here before and loved it however it has changed hands and clearly not for the betterWalkability: Lots of steps no lift

Lovely 3 night break. Had a great room with a hot tub in the garden. Service was spot on and the location is in the heart of the country side. Definitely go back.

A very nice place to stay. The room was a little run down but perfectly serviceable and comfortable. Some of the wall plugs didn't work. And the handheld shower squirted backwards as well as forwards. But the food was very good even if it was expensive. And the service was excellent. I would certainly stay there again. However, was the pool. It was awesome.
