Overpriced for what it is...
No air conditioning
No wi-fi in our room and it only works in one ground floor room. Oddly they were aware of this and yet still do nothing about it(?)
My partner was drinking Laurent Perrier Champagne at £28 a glass, yet after our stay we moved on to the Lygon in Broadway and it was £16 a glass, and the Lygon is a very up market similarly priced hotel
Service charges:
We paid for bed and breakfast up front (we didn't have a choice whether we wanted breakfast or not). £5 service charges were added each day for breakfast... Even tho we didn't have it...!!! And I have a glass of lager pushed across the bar and there's 30p service charge... My girlfriend has a Laurent Perrier at the same time and that's a £2.80 service charge!!!
We won't be back

I returned today from staying at this hotel for two nights after taking my elderly mum and my daughter and her best friend. We loved the hotel, the location and the food. Excellent staff especially at breakfast . Beautiful rooms with stunning views. Would definitely recommend others to stay here. The first time visiting the Cotswolds and it did not disappoint. After living abroad and not holidaying in the UK for many years, this hotel made me feel proud to be British.

Just home after a fabulous evening meal. Cameron and Connor looked after our party of 6 with humour and quiet efficiency. The food, service and wine pairings were great. A most enjoy evening in beautiful surroundings. Thank you

Probably the 2 most important things for business travellers are reliable WiFi and Air conditioning. This hotel had neither. Hard to get to on poorly kept secondary roads made this a questionable choice for further visits. The surcharge for a fan was a bit cheeky. Considering, how hot is was. Not for us, some folk may love it.

The setting was undeniably beautiful, but the food was bland and the service bordered on dismissive. Our waiter seemed indifferent from the start, and once it became clear we weren't ordering wine, the attentiveness dropped off entirely. While other tables received steady check-ins and wine service, we were largely ignored. No one asked how our food was and even basic requests like another bottle of still water or the check were ignored or forgotten. The dishes themselves were oddly composed and lacked flavor: bland quail sausage, chewy lobster pastry, and a chicken liver pate that was hard to stomach. It all felt like surface-level fine dining with no real hospitality behind it. A disappointing experience in a place that should no better.

We were turned away for afternoon tea. The receptionist came up with a ridiculous excuse as to why we could eat. I'm sure it was because I was wearing shorts on a hot summers day. Outrageous in the 21st century. Will never return. I have never been so embarrassed and belittled ever.

Edit / response to the business: thanks for your kind reply. I am sorry that we did not speak up about the food not being to our liking, but honestly no one checked in on us at all to give us the opportunity. Normally, I would be happy to give the food another chance and not write a bad review about it. Re the mis-recollection, it?s a shame to hear that Stacey thought she wiped down the table. There were multiple dirty tables in the room we sat at and it was certainly not wiped - in fact, we had to clear the table of a cup and saucer and place it on the one next to ours.
? original review:
Only rating here for the food: we stopped in for lunch around 2, and were barely greeted / receptionist seemed busy. We then were told to sit anywhere but we did not have anyone clear or wipe down our dirty table. No one asked if we liked our food either.
The food itself was quite awful! The cod sandwich was on stale bread, incredibly understated and my husband?s lamb burger was mediocre.
The grounds are pretty but would highly recommend other lunch options.

Only stopped in for cream tea. Great location outside in the garden. Service was extremely good. Very good tea and scones were just OK. Still an enjoyable experience.

Don't even bother going here. The website says it's bars are open until late and All day menu served until 9pm. But wouldn't serve us a drink even outside at 5pm , they had plenty of tables. No wonder the place is so empty. Next they will be crying poor with no funds to maintain the manor. Wow!

Popped in for afternoon tea. £40 per head for a very mediocre selection and weak teabag tea, but good service.
One of the ?cakes? was a blancmange, utensils provided were a knife and fork. Am I missing something?

We were in the area and looking for somewhere to have some lunch and we passed through to look around the area at the houses and countryside when we came across the hotel, it looked a nice place to eat and was reasonably priced, we asked if they were still serving and they said they would be able to, we sat outside at one of the tables on the lawn where they would send someone to take our order,it was a very warm day and had a lovely garden and a large pond further down the garden, food was very nice and the staff we're very friendly ? ?.

Beautiful location. We didn't stay there we just were in the area after a big walk but the staff were very nice and let some of our walking party go for a wee in their loos. So I would recommend this hotel. Really lovely looking place.

Hotel unable to accommodate change of date or refund, due to Heathrow shutdown. But they were more than happy to double the prices of rooms on the same night to take advantage of the situation. Good practice guys, good practice!
Response edit:
David, your comments are patronising at best, I am very aware how dynamic pricing works, and with a cancellation should come more available rooms - thus pricing should fall.
While I understand the practice of not being able to cancel rooms without due cause leaves the hotel out of pocket - however this is an extraordinary circumstance and just saying that we should have got insurance is merely washing your hands of it. Would have been happy to stay in the summer for potentially a longer time, and the hotel could have provided stay credit. But the hotel has decided that there is no room for exceptions. You have my email should you really wish to contact me. Booking was for 21st March.

Great location and a charming hotel.
First time in the Cotswolds , really enjoyed it.
Rooms need upgrades.
Mattresses definitely need changing.
Friendly staff but service was slow all over and had to remind them of orders a few times to get it.
Probably understaffed.
