My husband was originally from Cheltenham and last visited the Rising Sun some 60 years ago. We (my husband, daughter and myself ) stayed at the Rising Sun for 1 night last week and had a wonderful stay. Although the bedrooms could do with an upgrade they were clean, well equipped and the bed was so so comfortable. We paid for rooms with a view and it was well worth the extra few pounds. The staff were very accommodating and the service was excellent. The food was delish and if you book directly with the hotel you get a 20% off your food bill. Will we be booking to stay again absolutely.

Recently I booked 3 nights with breakfast.The room and bathroom was very cleaned. I didn't see any mould anywhere.Stunning out view and easy to walk on the hills. The girl and boy in the restaurant are very nice and calm. I will 100% visit again.

We came here for a birthday meal and had a very unfortunate experience. Not everything was available on the food and drinks menus and our order was not processed when we placed it so we had to ask where it was and it had to be re-ordered, causing us to eat over an hour later! However, they were very apologetic for the error and did not charge us for our meals. A great example of how to turn a negative customer experience into a positive, it did not go unnoticed. The food was very lovely when it arrived, I would eat there again.

We visited for a Sunday lunch and while the food was good, the views great and the staff helpful I can't rate more than a 3 star because I couldn't change my child's nappy because there is only a changing facility in the female toilets!

Location and service was good (although short staffed) but food was pretty grim. £13.50 for a burger that was smaller than a mcds cheeseburger with burger buns that were hard due to being nuked too much in the microwave.

Quite dated as it's not been refurbished since the 90s. However, it has everything you need for a decent stay. It's clean, bed is comfortable, lovely views and very friendly and helpful staff.

Myself and group of friends went here on Thursday night for a little pre Christmas meal, we had the set meal for adults and children, they had set the table up lovely for us and the food was delicious (I had turkey main and cheesecake pudding) a really lovely young guy was serving our table and was honestly brilliant- his name was Tom and deserves a 5 star rating. Brilliant will definitely visit againFood & drinks: For price get a good quality meal
