The whole pub is grubby as you walk down the steps it is messy , grubby , kitchen door always open , looks unprofessional. I have been here three times only because our friends live locally . I had lasagne first time served overcooked , they returned it having cut off the burnt bit and covered it with more cheese sauce, last night friend ordered salmon I ordered sea bass , served overcooked with cold new pots and veg , they took it away , microwaved the veg and replated the same fish which was now overcooked and cold , gave up not real apology and had to eat late when the rest of our table eat . The menu is overpriced , food I can cook better at home they are just amateur cooks , went past the kitchens and I wish I hadn?t looked in !! Will never eat here again and would never stay here. Lovely garden for a drink only - don?t waste your money on food !! They have a dedicated fish menu thinking it will be lovely - they can?t cook fish !! Always overcooked dry and tasteless .

This review is only for drinks and dinner in the pub. As a vegetarian, I can?t say enough good things about The Dog Inn. They had more than a few vegetarian options and some that could be made vegan. I had the vegetarian Wellington with mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, carrots and fresh steamed cauliflower and broccoli. My partner had the vegetarian cheese and red onion flan with chips and salad. The portions were ENORMOUS and everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The prices are reasonable and it?s just so nice to support an independent local pub over the ones that are quickly being made into chains with premade food that?s just warmed up.

Very good choice of real ale. Wide choice of food from an extensive menu. Well cooked and presented. Portions were Substantial!! Also has a car park.

Met a friend for lunch today and it was amazing! Gorgeous food, lovely staff, great value for money. Will definitely visit this pub again

Such lovely people!
I cant thank the owners enough, after I broke down with my 1 year old in the car 2h away from home!
They so kindly calmed me down and helped with my car. Such welcoming friendly staff too, will definitely be stopping again (planned this time ?)

Not had a meal in the Dog Inn for many years and thought we would try it again. Great weather so it was nice to sit outside, dog friendly and a good selection of food. Must admit the Blackened Cajun chicken was cooked just right. With a nice pint of Butcombe, a pleasant evening was had. We will visit again
