Dangerous Airport - Security staff and managers DO NOT care they work with FAULTY SECURITY EQUIPMENT (do not go to Ile 12 for security) I have just MISSED my flight at Stanstead Airport because of faulty scanners and unengaged staff at Ile 12. The scanner sent two of our bags, each in its own tray, for further checks for no reason (they contained ONLY clothes, no liquids, no other materials apart from cloth from the clothes). After waiting 37 min, literally begging staff to check the bags or I would miss the flight having got to the airport with ample time, I missed my flight. The worst was that they didn't even do the further checks to the bags because simply "the bags were not properly scanned in the first place as the equipment is faulty", so they just put them back in the original queue and the system cleared them. REALLY? How many bags containing potential harmful stuff does the faulty equipment at Ile 12 let through? The managers I demanded to speak to afterwards had a very debonair attitude to the issue I raised (same detached attitude as their colleagues on Ile 12) and I feel that faulty equipment, lack of interest and, frankly, incompetence make that airport UNSAFE. Their solution (and only engagement) was to gave me a card with an email address for "passengers to leave feedback otherwise we don't know what is wrong" (I am quoting the manager verbatim). Again REALLY? You do not know your equipment is faulty unless passengers leave feedback? Other lines were closed. If equipment at Ile 12 doesn't work properly should you open another line? And why there are only 2 people checking the huge amount of bags referred for additional checks when I could see staff literally watching them do it? I lead a team of 30 at my work and I don't have spare people to watch others do their job. Lots of blue shirts walking about, not many of them actually DOING something. The managers were, chiefly, only interested in making sure I deleted the video I made of the appalling service and attitude on the pretense that "it poses a security risk". I only deleted it because they threatened to call police if I didn't. Again, instead of taking an interest in the REAL security issue and the fact that this is also causing people to miss their flight (the reason they are there in the first place) the VIDEO was what they were interested in. Whilst they "supervised" me deleting the video from my gallery and recycle bin I had actually already sent it to my partner unaware it posed a security risk. I let them know in my feedback so I might get a response, given this is the only thing they cared about. The only positive today was the kindness of fellow passengers boarding a later flight, also waiting with many others for their bags to undergo further checks. They asked the security staff at Ile 12 to pick my bags before theirs as both my son and I were getting distressed at this point. Of course Ile 12 staff didn't as "they are not allowed to" apparently. What a DANGEROUS joke. Of course I am taking this further.

Extremely rude and aggressive security staff who bark orders at paying passengers. On our most recent trip they dropped my wife's phone into one of the security trays from height and could not have cared less about the risk of damage. Even worse, we had paid for fast track and naively expected a more professional and expedited service.

This airport fails miserably on the basics. Queues to do literally anything and the internet ? both cellular and WiFi (requiring email and password registration) ? doesn?t get you anywhere, not even on the homepage of Google. Also, the Stansted express is possibly the only train in London which does not accept contactless payments. Why? Less flashy lights and more basic services.

Every worker there is very rude and arrogant. We asked if we could stand somewhere and this worker rolled her eyes and said, ?don?t ask me, I?m just here for money.?

Try to find a flight after 10 in the morning to suit your mmm. Because if you go in the evening, since the classes stop at 11.30, you won't find a chair to sit on and you'll have to take it out on the floor

I wonder how this airport went from being one of the most beautiful and modern in Europe to a concentration camp for passengers.The beautiful main building, once with good views, lots of space and quiet areas, has been completely filled with things. The walk to the boarding gates is a river of people between stores. I don't want to stop at any of them. And the waiting hall... Look at the photo...

Awful passing through security. 30 minutes waiting for someone to check my bag because both people checking were in training. The problem was yogurt in a Tupperware. I asked to eat it fast, but they said either throw Tupperware out, or go back to empty it and re-do the whole process and line.There was no way to go back and risk missing my flight given how incredibly slow they are. Had to trash my Tupperware :(Friend went through Luton the other day and all the liquids passed. Reconsider choice of airport.

So slow check in I haven?t see again. They look the baggage two times and for that I loose the fly!! I don?t have see anything like that on the world!!

Nearly missed our flight after security took over 1.5hr while security staff chatted instead of checking our bags. Had to sprint through the airport with heavy bags to make it. Signage everywhere stated liquids needed to be removed from bags when this was not the cause causing confusion and slowdown.

Bad 4g connection with Vodafone and O2. Typical bad experience at control counters, now even requesting to extract hairdryers, hair irons and limiting liquids bag to 1 per person: only airport in Europe doing that. There airports that are advanced enough to let you keep all inside the bags with no risks. Never prefer this airport over Heathrow if you have an alternative route. Shame on who runs this airportAlso, low quality restaurants on premises
