We visited today and our server was Lynn. She was absolutely fantastic she made sure to give us a warm welcome and asked us about any allergies or dietary requirements and made a fuss of our baby too :) couldn?t ask for better service from such a lovely lady!

My partner and I visit the Toby Carvery on Prince?s Ave quite often and Lynette serves us most visits she is always happy, friendly, helpful & always asks after my mum in law who has dementia. It?s the little things that make our visits enjoyable apart from the food which is always delicious I recently tried the takeaway service and have to say, there was plenty portion wise and it was really hot making it both delicious and great value for money

It's now 8 quid to go at the weekend, meaning you're paying over 20 pounds for two people plus drinks. Not the deal it used to be. And when did Toby stop serving plum tomatoes! Who gets a plate, yes a plate, of choped tomatoes!? Such a shame how these establishments have gone.

Really rude, we were 15? late because we couldn?t find parking near and we had a disabled lady with us and we were trying to call the place nobody answered. The lady at the door was very rude and said that we should have called when we were outside but nobody had replied to our calls.
We had to stay at the bar area and people with no reservations went to the dining area.
Such a big queue to get food we were waiting for like 40? so disappointing.
Food wasn?t great either.

Very rude
We had a reservation at the disabled area and because we were late 10 minutes because the parking was full they canceled our reservation

Food quality was poor, dry meat, just dumped on there not fully organised.
No yorkshire puddings as their machine is broken!!
Extremely long queue as there was only 1 person serving. Not a place that I?d like to go to again we love Toby carvery however 1st and last time in Southend branch.

This is the worst restaurant I?ve ever been to. It was utterly a disgrace. The workers didn?t even give us knife and fork just to eat our food they ask if we paid they even saw our food on our plate. Then my Family gave a little suggestion you should have a better attitude when they?re talking to customers and they band us forever.

The staff who serve you at the tables are always great, friendly and attentive.
The staff behind the carvery whilst polite and nice, can at times be very very very very slow. They appear sometimes understaffed with only one person carving, prepping buffet food, and also replacing the buffet vegetables.
There's also one nice chap (bless him) who just talks too darn much to each customer and the line always gets long and slow with him. It sincerely can add 20mins to the wait in the queue.... He can chat for so long the people getting the buffet vegetables have finished, gotten sauce, returned to their table and begun eating, all before this chap finishes cutting a few slices of meat.

Absolutely awful qued at the food counter line for 1 hour honest got fed up with waiting then went back to sit down and the table 6 off us and waitress gave our table away because we were all queuing

Popular with locals and good value for money. Staff polite but too few, hence expect long waits at peak times.
Dietary restrictions: Good options for vegans and vegitariens
Parking: Good central location on A127 at Prittewell, Southend

Beware dodgy parking fines
Prince Ave, Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea SS2 6RL
I had an incredibly frustrating experience at Toby Carvery Southend-on-Sea, and I strongly advise others to think twice before dining there!
After visiting their establishment on January 17 2024 and following their parking policy?entering my vehicle registration as instructed?I was still hit with a fine for ?unauthorised parking.? I provided proof of my purchase, having spent £35.84 at the restaurant, yet I was still penalised.
When I tried to resolve the issue by speaking with a manager, I was met with nothing but blame. Instead of acknowledging the situation or offering any help, they simply told me it was my responsibility to ensure my details were up to date with the DVLA. While I understand the importance of keeping records current, that does not change the fact that I followed their rules on the day.
My visit for the day went from £35.84 + £170 fine ticket = £205.84. I will never return to this establishment, and I urge others to avoid it as well.
A restaurant that refuses to support its customers and allows dodgy parking fines to be issued is not one worth visiting.
