A lovely bar!
We stopped for a few drinks on Friday night, the staff were super welcoming and happy to help. The cocktails were great, there was a brilliant selection and they were well priced.

We were excited to be eating Tapas in Saffron Walden but unfortunately the food just wasn't right tonight. The mac and cheese was not cheesy - it was a watery paste. The salad was inedible - we genuinely think someone spilt some salt on it as that's all we could taste. The chilli beef was burnt. The chicken wings were dried out. We didn't finish our dinner. We paid the bill and left.
I just called to give feedback and the person who answered the phone agreed with me that they were having some issues with the food at the moment. It's such a shame. We want to shop local and support independents. But when it's nearly £75 for three people to have six dishes and one lemonade each, it's hard to see that we'd try it again.

Literally the worst tapas ever. Chicken nuggets floating in chili sauce. Frozen potatoes deep fried with a tin of tomatoes on top The list is endless.

Great place to have a drink with your friends, it could do with more sitting space outside, but it is the closeness to other tables, on those very rare British warm days, that make this place special

Shocking service. Took over an hour and a half for a salad and a ham and cheese ?ciabatta? sandwich, which turned out to be just white cheap bread with a slice ham and a couple tomatoes. Will not be going back. Also the queue was too long to even complain after we had already complained to the waiter who never came back. And it cost £28!!

Having moved to the area recently we had heard good feedback about The Market House and were looking forward to trying it. Having booked a table a few days before our visit, we arrived and were seated in the front window of the bar area, on really uncomfortable stools where you were too low to comfortably eat from the table. The light in the bar was flickering constantly which was really annoying and there was a constant queue for the bar who were leaning on our table. We ordered a number of dishes from the tapas menu. The food took ages, a couple of dishes were brought out and then taken away again, being told they weren?t for our table. Ten minutes later the same dishes were brought back to us and we were told they actually were for us. By this time they were stone cold! The remainder of the dishes we ordered came out about 15/20 minutes after the first plates which was a bit strange and kind of defeats the object with tapas! The food was below average - the potato skins were not potato skins at all but boiled potatoes chopped in half covered in grated cheese thrown under the grill - very strange?! The breaded brie was stone cold inside. The squid was undercooked. The prawns were clearly frozen prawns that had been picked out of the garlic butter and placed on a plate so there was no sauce or anything and they were completely dry! It all tasted like frozen food heated up. Very disappointing. I will say that the vibe was good in there, good music being played and lovely bar staff in there, who couldn?t have been friendlier or more fun. Would I return? I may pop in for a drink in the evening, but I would make sure I avoided the food! It seems more like a bar anyway so I don?t know why they?re even bothering trying to sell it as a restaurant.

This is such a gem, great staff, fab food and I love the live music they have here. The drag bingo night was by far my favourite. Such a warm family feel when I?m here, always welcoming and attentive.

This is the fourth visit as previous experiences were very good. However this time was awful, drinks took over 15 mins to arrive, we were not allowed to have anything off the usual menu as it was Tapas Tuesday menu only. The food took ages to come out and came out at different times so it could not be eaten Tapas style ! The food also looked awful just like fast food. The prawns looked like shrimp and the sauce they were in looked like it had been watered down. We were sat in the extended eating area which is like a conservatory. It got really cold and I had to put my coat across my lap like a blanket to keep warm. The lady serving seems more interested in the guests at the bar than the people eating. The next day I was unwell, nauseous, unable to eat or drink properly, had a temperature and stomach aches. This lasted 3 days. Obviously mild food poisoning. Won?t be going there again . Such a let down.

We were happy to find this place on a busy Saturday market day and the range of food on offer looked good. We ordered a Coronation chicken sandwich and a bacon and brie ciabbata. The waiter said that chips and salad were charged extra until we pointed out they already came with the ciabbata . It was surprising that he was not aware of the menu items !!! The food arrived and the ciabbata was fine. However, the Coronation chicken sandwwas inedible as the bread was hard (old ??). It was returned immediately. It was most disrespectful to serve such substandard quality food and we informed the staff we would not be paying for the inedible sandwich. The staff only offered a disinterested response to all of this with a cursory shrug of their shoulders. It's a shame, as we won't be returning but I should imagine they wouldn't be that bothered as their standards are already fairly low !!!
