Nice place to visit during an early morning cycle ride. Great coffee and great service.

Went on a Monday lunchtime so it was a bit quiet. No need to book, plenty of seating available. Went straight in for a main and it was really well cooked and tasty, ~£30 a head with soft drinks.

A fantastic country pub, a few miles from Chelmsford.
Great food and fantastic staff. Very happy to recommend this to all.

Really great roast dinner. Had the super roast 3 meats plus stuffing and huge yorkshire pudding. The crackling was good too. Excellent service, fast but not too fast and very friendly. Def recommend

Met up with a group of just over a dozen at The Bakehouse for an informal lunch. I had a pepper and cheese tart with a side salad. Unfortunately they do not stock Guinness Zero so had a 0.05% Adams Ghost Ship. Both were good.

Gr8 place, suitable for all the family with the Bakehouse for coffee & cake too

So today went to the fox and goose. Lovely outside. There were 6 of us in the party. Was put on a table with hardly any elbow space. Asked if we could sit at the circular table. And was told it was reserved. Shame the napkins were removed from said table before we had finished our food. Then the flies!! Ranged from house flies to small flies. Batting them with our hands whilst eating. Though they were persistent and landing on food and awful experience

Sunday evening for a family meal. Very quiet, so no buzzing atmosphere but prompt service. Only stayed for mains and a drink but food good. F &G cheeseburger was good..burger was succulent and tasty...and not dry and coarse, which can be the problem in other eateries. Kids Cumberland sausage and mash was declared to be 'yummy' too. Clean and comfortable too.

Do yourself a favour and go to this pub.

Lovely building but other than that very disappointing.
We booked dinner but didn't stay for food. It took about 10 minutes to get us seated even though we had a booking and they weren't busy, and about 20 minutes for our drinks (a diet coke and sparkling water - which incidentally, was more than £8!) to come.
Very pricey menu and based on what we could see, definitely not worth the money.
The layout is awful and the pub looks so unloved indoors. The carpet looks like it was last replaced in 1942 and last cleaned in 2009. Toilets were leaky, tap didn't work, and there was grime/mould under the hand dryer. Tables are marked, sticky and damaged.
A real shame but the owners, management and staff clearly have no pride for the place. It won't survive in its current form - I just hope it gets taken over by someone that will put some love into it.

Only slight issue 80 quid for Sunday roast and a shandy...bit pricey... car park holes need attention ?

Was quiet on a Friday evening, the food was delicious I had the Korean fried chicken burger and was the best burger I'd had in a while! Server was very friendly and attentive. Definitely going back!

Lovely venue, staff very friendly and attentive. Food average. Bit pricey for what you got. I had roast beef, which was very nice but the knives were blunt so it was quite an effort to cut it

I have celiac disease and I'm always anxious about eating out. The gluten free options were the best I've had yet
I recommend ?
