Place wasnt the cleanest. They were running out of the basics like butter..... And the coffee I had was like coloured water.. Had no taste... Ended up leaving the coffee and tea we bought barely drunk... Waste of six quid

The worst Costa ever visited, gloomy lighting, gloomy staff, never smile, do not look happy. Short staffed, look like they do not enjoy working at the place. Often do not have what you want. Prime location, should be a flag ship store.

I visit Rayleigh most days just before closing for a consistently good cup of coffee, and moreover the warm conversation with each staff member (without exception). I find if you are polite and offer some gratitude it goes a long way here. They work hard at Rayleigh with an incredibly busy customer footfall, I remain mindful of this on the rare occasion something is less than perfect. Thank you for looking after me. Steve

Yesterday we went in (my elderly parents & I) all tables were covered in peoples old cups where tables hadn?t been cleaned only two tables occupied, 3 members of staff, so whilst my dad ordered my mum tried to clear a table for us to sit at and she dropped a drink, so she went to ask for a cloth and apologised she?d spilt a drink, man with glasses rolled his eyes and said for god sake, my mum came back upset, he came out with the mop, I said there?s not need to be rude, he said ?I don?t understand how a grown adult can drop a drink to be honest? I said how rude he walked off I asked for the manager - he came out and said yes, I explained what happened, he said yes again and I said it?s rude he said ok. I?ll speak to him see what he says no so sorry about that nothing! We sat in there with our drinks not one person came to make sure we was ok! No customer service whatsoever and I will 100% make sure we never go in there again! It?s always filfy, everyone?s miserable, I?m not sure if that?s what they look for in staff at interview but it?s shocking!

Been going to costa for years , but a few times some of the staff are very rude. Seems like one of the staff member should not be working in customer service, he is extremely rude to customers.
Interrupts you when you are trying to explain. Very short responses

I must say visited Tuesday 26th March 24@ 3pm. Best costa I have been in, nice friendly staff and good service never had this in a costa before.

This particular Costa ALWAYS has an issue... Whether it's the toilets are out of use, the dishwasher is broken (again & again), take away only, no air con/heating, no coffee lids to make particular drinks, ice machine out of use, oven out of use... The list is endless. I wouldn't mind so much at times if the service was decent. Unfortunately the staff in this branch aren't cut out for customer service. The manager of this branch clearly doesn't want to be at work and severally dislikes her job. Her staff seem to follow in her footsteps as they are very rude and sarcastic. Lots of things are usually forgotten on orders and then you feel you are putting them out of their way when mentioned. There's only one lady who I know is particularly pleasant in this branch and I'm very much a regular as I work in Rayleigh. It's such a shame as Wickford have an entirely different approach to customer service and the atmosphere in general is so much better. The staff here really let the place down and I think they need new management to renew their standards. I wish this was a better review but this review has been long overdue.

When you go here at lunch times, the service is really slow. Staff are really nice though. What she they had a fast pay counter. They would get a lot more customers. I had to leave a couple of time due to slow service. Have also noticed that when you buy the Pork Sausage Bap, you now only get 3 small sausages instead of four. If Costa coffee shops are gonna start robbing their customer you'll loose then to other coffee shops. Greggs does the same bap and its cheaper. Sorry Costa coffee, your gonna have to do better.
