Traditional English pub.
Very good quality food. Had the Sunday lunch. Substantial portions of freshly cooked food. We had lamb and salmon; both excellent. Other options include beef and roast pork.

What a lovely little find!
Went there for the first time just on the off chance for some lunch. The food was so good. Very nice portions (didn't need dinner that night!) and tasted yum ?.
The staff were all lovely & the owner Nettie introduced herself & chatted to us, which was lovely. It is so nice to go a proper traditional pub. My partner even said he thinks we have found his new favourite pub. We will 100% be back in the very near future

If you want a true country pub with authentic beams, dark wood, good beer, and honest food, then this is a gem.
I'd recommend the delicious liver and bacon with mash and peas....very generous portion and a wonderful thick gravy.
Wash it down with 2 pints of St. George (from a brewery in Great Wakering) and it's a perfect English meal out.
Our visit coincided with the Beer Festival and BBQ outdoors....I'm sure that will be a success too.

Nice secluded spot and good food portions. Large garden needs some tlc but plenty of space. It could be amazing when sorted. Most staff friendly but one lady letting the team down by being a bit grumpy and not interested in conversation with us.

Been here several times for midweek lunch but first time for Sunday lunch. Will definitely be going again we had roast pork which was excellent. The food here is always amazing.

This little pub is top draw, great beers, excellent food, and friendly staff make this pub spot on we often travel 40 to 45 minutes to this place and is well worth the journey. Just to mention they have a great beer festival on the last weekend in June which is well worth a visit.

Went on a Saturday around half 2 ,sat outside ,after around 20 mins we ordered them waited hour and a half for meal . We asked inside about delay and they said they prioritise inside diners ! I have never heard anything like it ,surely it's whoever orders first ? Not even busy . Food when it came was average and a bit overpriced . There was no apology for the waiting time . Won't be going back in a hurry

We hosted a wake here for 20 people. We ordered the simplest buffet as offered and added a cake for dessert. The food was outstanding. The homemade scotch eggs and sausage rolls were excellent and the variety and quality of sandwiches and other food was great. We were very pleased.
