Decided to pick this place randomly without knowing too much. Was a brilliant find, a lovely spot set in the countryside.
Pub had a great feel to it, really clean and well presented.
Food was spot on, and excellent flat ?specials? lamb rump. Definitely a spot to head back to!
Toffee sticky pudding needed more sauce but that?s a personal preference as I like it drowning in the sauce ?

Great spot to finish country walk in its beer garden. food looks good but did not partake on this occasion. Next time.

Busy, but we managed to book a table on the day, today, for Sunday lunch. Beer battered fish was succulent and the batter perfect, with green peas that pop in the mouth and a rustic pot of tartar. The mother had the sea bass with Asian veg, she sent her compliments to the chef she was that impressed. Lovely atmosphere and service.

My daughter and I were travelling through Essex and stopped off for Sunday lunch.
It was a great find on line and thank goodness we booked. The food was hot, vegetables cooked al dente and fresh. My daughter a vegetarian said the lentil loaf was very tasty. We were looked after very well by all the staff. Wish we lived closer but will definitely stop off again.

At a 'table' or 25 folks sat to celebrate the experience was simply 100%. ALL food, all courses was as hot or as cold as the talented chef intended from when dishes were plated up. Best dish, purely individual taste - pork belly...wow so very out 9f this world. A MUST DONEATERY!

We ate out last night at The Cricketers and I have to say the food was absolutely outstanding. The steak was beautifully cooked, medium with a lovely bbq topped crust just so tender and beautifully cooked. The mushroom cream sauce was out of this world with a beautiful sharp edge of mustard, just so good finished off with crunchy onion rings. Five stars for such amazing place, staff and food, we would highly recommend.

Nice stop off for lunch today. Good job we booked, as others were being turned away as fully booked on Saturday lunchtime. Good choices of starters, main and dessert, plus they also do wood fired pizza at the weekend now. I had the seafood main and Eton mess dessert. Both lovely. Reasonable prices for what is on offer. Nice
place in a quiet wooded area not far from the main A12 a few miles away.
