I was there last week with my grandmother. Neither of us though much of our starters and mains, very overpriced for the quality you get.
Positives are that the pub really is very pretty and it has a nice garden, it is also in an attractive location

Great Sunday lunch - super starters and mains were good. Nice staff and great outdoor space if required

The absolute best meal I've had since moving to Essex.
Nothing more wholesome than traditional pub grub with a fine dining twist.
We had the vegetarian toad in the hole (Meat option available too)
The Yorkshire pudding was crisp and delicious, the sausages cooked perfectly and the gravy was fantastic.
Nothing could prepare us for what I can only describe as the best mash I have ever tasted.
Highly recommended.

Every bite was genuinely fantastic, so impressed with this place . Great culinary attention to detail, freshest quality ingredients and all seemingly made in house. Looking forward to trying more of the menu in future.

Absolute little gem of a place. Lovely and snug in the winter and fantastic garden area and entertainment in the spring/summer time.
Great food and service.
Looking forward to going back ?

Really great food and service ,nothing wrong with the atmosphere but I like a reverential silence so I can enjoy my food ,its my quirk which is why I don't go out much

Middle of the road prices £24 for Fish n chips too pricey £20 would be batter !!!..We had pork escalope £10 + £5 for chips!!!! Should be included in my opinion, but I have to say, the pork was SOO tough I almost couldn't cut it with my knife, I told the young lady serving us but I didn't want to send it back and cause a seen or upset the chef...One pint of Guinness, and two small lagers, plus a tip total £42....sorry, not good, what say you. ..I hate bad food, and food not cooked properly...customers do like value for money V.F.M..

Amazing food. I had the pie and mash and I can't remember ever having a pie so full of meat. Very, very tasty.

Overpriced average kids meals, £10 each for a mediocre spaghetti dish in tomatoe sauce, heard good things about the Hoop but won't return.

I visited here with friends for Sunday lunch a month or so ago. The food is amazing I won?t fault that. However, I was quite let down by comments. When we turned up, the other half of the party was already here but in the garden. I was told to remind them the table was in 5 minutes as they had a tight slot. Didn?t think anything of it, but we got reminded a few times during lunch of the time slot. We wasn?t even taking long, sometimes we was waiting more for the food/service. When asked if we wanted to dessert, we said we would look but then was told you?ll have to order them now and eat quick as they have the next seating.
On top of that, there was a male staff member behind the bar moaning about his job to a couple sitting at the bar.
Our table was quite squashed for 4 people and a baby but I didn?t mind. We was right next to the bar, again that doesn?t bother me. However, there was a couple sitting at the bar basically sitting with us as they kept looking at us and joining in our conversation which wasn?t wanted. (I understand this isn?t the restaurants fault but thought I?d flag).
I?d come back for the food as it was amazing, but I was disappointed by the service.
