Had a nice lunch here - ham and cheese Toastie as well as coronation chicken are pictured. Service is friendly, and location is lovely!

The food was lovely and the staff were really polite and helpful, unfortunately I had to wait a while for my food, but I was warned of that before sitting down, so not too upset about it. The food was a bit pricey for what you got, but worth it for a pretty place to sit, watch the world go by and have a bite to eat.

Was given an afternoon tea voucher, value £50. The afternoon tea was pretty basic and if bought individually probably cheaper. Took cakes home but weren?t very nice so threw them away. The tea room itself was very clean and comfortable . Staff very friendly. I would visit again but not have the afternoon tea.

What a disappointment! I have been coming here for years with my family because of the great location and the food has always been good.
On this occasion, the service was chaotic, the tea rooms need to seriously review their systems especially serving people on the outside deck and getting drink orders filled. We were waiting ages to place an order and then receive our coffees. Meanwhile people were queuing up for tables which could have been turned over quicker if the staff or system was more efficiently run. When the drinks finally arrived the coffee tasted like dishwater, perhaps the barista is new or hasn't been trained properly? The cups are too big for a flat white which is usually served in England as a double shot in a smaller cup. I asked for the coffee to be made stronger and got charged for an additional shot making it very expensive for an underwhelming cup of coffee. The sandwiches were okay but the salad was wilted. I will probably go to one of the pubs next time.

A present for our anniversary afternoon tea so we decided to go to Heybridge for a change. The weather was beautiful and the food was lovely. Staff were very welcoming.

Had lunch here on a nice, sunny day before venturing out on a walk. The inside was lovely, being clean and welcoming. The service was great from the start and really enjoyed the food. I had the Quiche Lorraine with new potatoes and salad which was delicious. Looking forward to heading back for a tea for two.

Bacon sandwich gold medal. Great bread, a stack of well cooked and expensive bacon, not to much fat, butter obviously, all complimented with their in-house brown sauce.
