we had a light lunch which was v.good.

Another wonderful evening at the great Rayleigh Arms. Wednesday is fish day with lots of fresh and exciting choices at a discount on the usual menu price?.unbeatable!! Superb service and extremely tasty & well presented.
If you are looking for a great meal out in a lovely setting then this is the place.

We stumbled upon this pub while driving to the beach from London and oh what a joy to find! Wonderful food (fresh seafood every Wednesday), a great wine list, lovely outside space and the landlady Debs and her husband are friendly and welcoming. You don?t find village pubs like this often and it?s definitely worth a detour. We will be back.

Beautiful building in a beautiful village in glorious spring sunshine. Had Sunday lunch/roast. Had the vegan option, the portion size was poor. 3 roast potatoes just didn't quite cut it. The vegetable bake, delicious as it was, was lacking a bit of bulk. Some walnuts or beans, like haricot or cannelini would have been lovely to add that extra bit of volume and protein. If they offered a vegan Yorkshire pudding that would have been utterly perfect... The vegan millionaires slice was utter perfection, with vegan chocolate ice cream. Heaven. Saved the day, without it I would have come home hangry. I'd consider going back, but would definitely want a bit more on the plate.

A fantastic Essex pub!! Food was fantastic, Service & staff were lovely and atmosphere is excellent, a real community feel.
Four of us, ordered the Lamb & Beef Sunday roasts with extra roasted potatoes & two cauliflower cheeses. Drinks, wine & Guinness.
Will be returning again in the near future to explore more on the menu. Highly recommend!

Lovely pub, well worth driving out to Terling as an alternative to some of the pubs in Witham and Hatfield Peveral. Menu has a great mix of traditional pub fare, pizzas and unique specials. Food was quick to come out, well-presented and excellent quality. Staff very friendly and accommodating to our party that included a 9 year old. Would recommend!

Our 6th visit and loved the food.
1. There were a couple of criticisms though this time. Please serve the gravy seperate from the roast - everyone of our plates came up with the meats literally 'swimming' in gravy, so much so you could hardly see the meat at all - simple gravy boat(s) short out the problem.
2. You advise you no longer take pre-booked meals i.e Chicken etc
We came in for Sunday lunch at 2.30pm only to find roast choices were limited to either Beef or Lamb, simply ridiculous - the lack of choice at this time is unacceptable.
3. To hurry people out of the room barely 75 minutes after being seated - the room being pre-booked for a party at 4.00pm - wasn't very nice at all to be honest.
We'll probably give it a go here again but should we experience the same issues, that'll be to there loss - let's hope it won't come to that.
My comments have been made in a constructive way - please take these onboard going forward.
