We haven?t stayed overnight but it?s our go to place for dinner before catching the ferry back to NL. The Pier?s location is great as it?s 5 mins away from Harwich ferry port. The food is very good. Last time we both had the Haddock & chips which was excellent, this time I had the Skate wing and my partner had the fish pie. Both delicious. They have a great menu choice so something for everyone?s taste. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Enjoy!Food & drinks: Food is great. The menu is varied and the staff always say immediately if something is no longer available. They also get their fish from local fishermen which means they have a great ethos. Big thumbs up for sustainability ?Noteworthy details: On our first visit we couldn?t find parking as it?s all permit parking. A super friendly couple from Harwich stopped their car and asked us if we were looking for the Pier which was totally correct seeing as we drive in a NL reg car. So for those that don?t know there is parking behind the Pier. Take the first right turn straight after the hotel. (Coming from the ferry port.)

Strange, inadequate lighting in bedroom ie large dressing table mirror with poor light to use for applying makeup, drying hair. Only wall lights on another wall, no central light and no lamp on dressing table. Ridiculously short cable for kettle which did not safely reach any power point. Finally massive increase in price of accommodation is unjustifiable ...shame really as this will deter people.

I had an afternoon tea at this premises. The music on the speakers started changing volume constantly after we arrived and then the music was turned off. It then became too quiet but that changed when they put the glass washer on! The premises is lovely but the ambiance wasn't.I have also had a fair few afternoon teas in the past and feel this afternoon tea is too expensive... £10 too expensive. I would have expected more for £25 pp.The positives to this venue is that dogs are welcome in the downstairs bar, the staff are helpful when available and there is a large selection of teas available.Noteworthy details: Dogs welcome.

Good food but we were given a can of drink that was 6 months out of date!!!! Not good enough stock control.

First time visiting the Pier for dinner, enjoyed my starters of snails & main which was Hake, beautifully cooked. My husband had lobster for main which he enjoyed very much & a scotch egg for starters, all tasted a presented beautifully & our waitress was very lovely & attentive, as we're all the staff. The actual restaurant is upstairs, and it's very relaxing & chilled, with nice gentle background music, felt very relaxed & comfortable. Parking is too the rear but only about 8 spaces, Aldo parking out the front which is pay & display but I can imagine it gets quite hard to park at busy periods ie the summer time. Will definitely return as the food was beautiful, although it's higher price range than other restaurants, I will happily pay for that when the food & service is spot on.

We unexpectedly had to travel by ferry to England, so we arrived in Harwich (hours from our final destination) late in the evening. The staff at the Pier were so welcoming. They got us into a room right away so we could relax at the bar with our pup.The accommodations were super comfy and convenient. I've honestly not slept that well in weeks. And the complementary breakfast was delicious and much needed. This will definitely be our go-to hotel when coming over on the ferry from Amsterdam.

Only had lunch, so can't comment on the rooms. The staff were excellent and the food also. The toilets are very amusing too!

We recently stayed here for one night with a group of 12 and we had a great couple of days - the local area isn't the best to be honest BUT the hotel, food and the staff are fantastic. We were looked after by a lovely lady on reception, Hope and Chelsea they were all so nice and really made the night away special.

We really enjoyed an Afternoon Tea. It was delicious, consisting of sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones with clotted cream and jam and an assortment of cakes. All of this was served by two lovely friendly, attentive ladies. A most enjoyable experience.

Over the years we have dined at The Pier many times but not for a while now due to Covid etc That can be a disappointment but certainly not in this case ! There cannot be many places left that serve tender , pink roast beef but this is one of them. We were taken there for lunch yesterday as part of our 50th Wedding Anniversary celebrations and it could not be faulted. Two of us had the roast beef with all the trimmings. Delicious selection of vegetables and each had our own pot of extra gravy? always a plus point ! One had the renowned fish and chips and one , a vegan was given her own menu to choose from All the meals were superb. Hot , tasty and nicely presented and served by a young but very attentive staff who obviously take pride in their jobs. Well done to all the staff both front of house and in the boiler room ! The legacy of Gerald Milsom is alive and well and long may it continue. Just as a little aside ? we live in Felixstowe but we took the ferry across to Harwich. First time but certainly not the last ! Excellent !
