Warm and quiet room. Bathroom hadn't been cleaned. Only one light. On-street crowded parking.Rooms: Warm and quiet. Basic facilities. No waste bin. No bed side lights.

Nice quiet room. Never been in a room were the bed looked clean and you still can smell the parfume of the person before you lying on the same sheets. The carpet in the room was not vacuum cleaned for quit some time and the shower needs a good scrub!!

In a quiet area but still close to Colchester and motorways. Very elegant classy hotel with posh fixings. The room is very clean and the staff are extremely friendly.

The room had no window , lucky we got upgraded and had a en-suite that had a window we could leave ajar for some air. Will never stay again. Bar had little to drink other than beer. The area bring the beer garden that we had to walk through was disgusting with rubbish everywhere and bins overflowing. We only stayed as needed to get early ferry. Car also had to be parked on road.

Absolutely disgraceful.We booked a room for Sunday. We arrived at 1:30pm. Thought we would have a drink before checking in. Nope the doors were locked on the pub. Tried calling numerous times no answer. Fortunately we found a room elsewhere. When speaking to the receptionist at the new place we found she said we were not the first people to come to them with the same problem.I would rate this place alot worse if I could. Lucky we even got a place to stay in the end as we managed to get the last room at a different hotel.Shocking don't book!!!Nearby activities: There are none!!

One of the two guys on the staff was really rude and unhelpful. I slept in a single room which had no bedside table, no wardrobe and no hangers. The impression was really bad. For someone who travels by bike like me, the place they make available to you is not safe. I don't recommend it at all.

A bit of context for the ratings I'm giving; the room was perfectly adequate, we had an ensuite with a great shower with which towels were included, the lock on the door worked, bed was comfy and we had a working kettle and TV, only let down was having to ask for loo roll.Service was good, the chap was very friendly and let me park my motorbike out of view for the night (respect that!)Location, its 3 minutes from the ferry port, which was exactly what we wanted with an 8am check in! Also an Aldi, Morrisons, Home Bargains and B&M a 10 minute walk away.Yeah alright, the pubs salt of the earth but everyone was friendly, and if you're a traveller that doesn't take ear plugs when staying in strange places then that's on you!

We just been to Fryatt hotel and bar Harwich the confirmation says check in 2:30 we arrived 2:33 and bar manager went no come back it?s 3pm check in so my husband and I had to sit in car 30plus degrees heat and wait half hour, he had no people skill he could of said sorry we don?t do check in till 3pm but your welcome to stay in bar area and have a drink while you wait, Our room was disgusting never cleaned or hoovered in ages the bathroom was filthy never cleaned in ages there was no toilet roll my husband went to ask and found store room open and took toilet roll, you couldn?t see out shower screens as they were filthy as of shower so we didn?t use shower the sink filthy they had small bin in toilet that wasn?t emptied, the kettle had water marks all over it and dust we didn?t even use it as filthy and no bin in room to put your rubbish in, there was dust and bits rubbish all over the carpet where it?s had never been hovered the sheets and pillow had dust on them I have never seen such a dirty room it says free Wi-Fi but was no Wi-Fi code written down in room or given to us my husband had to go down to bar and ask for code, I wanted to leave but my husband was to tired to drive back home I couldn?t wait for the morning we left at 7:30am

I cannot understand how this place has any good reviews after what I have just experienced. I was only booked in to stay one night but I couldn?t even manage that. As soon as I got to my room I was greeted by an awful smell like old food and sweat and then it didn?t take long for me to see that the room has clearly never had a good clean. There were crumbs and food inside the bed and on the floor, crushed dead insects and thick layers of dust everywhere but this wasn?t even the worst of it. The bathroom was absolutely horrendous. The toilet was disgusting inside and out with urine stains running down it. Again, there was a thick layer of dust over everything and there were blobs of what could have been soap (I hope) on the floor with pubic hair in it. Then the shower? wow? it was yellowed and covered in more hair and thick layers of dust and grime and was just absolutely rancid. Not a hope in hell I was going to stay there so I had to make alternative arrangements which was really frustrating. DO NOT STAY HERE!

AVOID AVOID AVOID! this is the worst place ever! we booked ground floor, no steps or stairs, even ground floor had steps! this is managed by just one young man, who is not very well trained, we could not get any help with anything, if this is a pub, where is the drink? not even a glass off white wine for me! my room was very clean and was obviously very new, they have turned the function room into rooms, so my room was next door to the pub, with a boarded up door, which used to be straight through to the pub, so no sleep for us! at 8 am, having had not much sleep, on came the loud music again, we tried to find a member of staff, but he was no where to be found! there is no chairs in the rooms, and no where to sit to do make up or hair, no shelves in the bathroom, and the blinds dont open for light! this place is owned by SYRYA, they need to be sorting this out! we packed and left, there is no where to leave your room key, we were told to leave it in the room! they have no food facilities here either. when we left, there was another couple, who were very angry, they didnt get any sleep either! they left, as they could not find anyone to deal with their complaint. Dreadful place DO NOT WSTE YOUR MONEY! GO ELSEWHERE

The place was ok clean tidy, the room and bed was comfy there is a bar and pub games there pool darts. There is no food but food places down the road 5 min walk away, what let it down was no milk in the room for the drinks and the shower was too hot and could not work out how to change

Rooms were okay. Pillows were really hard having 2 Pillows in one pillow case. No toilet paper in 3 rooms but a pack of 4 in another.

The location is perfect for an early ferry from Harwich. I read a previous review about bed bugs literally on the way to this hotel with my 3 month old son so expectations were low and I arrived rather concerned, however we found our "cottage" to be clean, with fresh linen and had no issues at all. This hotel isn't marketed as a luxury place and it shouldn't be, but for the purpose it aims to serve (i.e., providing single night stays prior to ferry travel), it is perfect. Staff were friendly and breakfast (a bag of croissants, waffles and muffins) was unexpectedly dropped by our door well in time for us to leave for ferry check in. Yes it could all do with a fresh lick of paint and a good scrub but we were perfectly comfortable here and would be happy to stay here again.

This is a back street community pub with rooms, not a traditional hotel, refurbished to a good standard but not for holiday but travel or access to port. Strange layout and underlying smell of stale beer and cigarettes being on the ground floor, felt safe but not for tourists.
