I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Smythis (Lakeside, Thurrock) that left me questioning their integrity and customer service. The store was advertising a seemingly attractive deal of "2 for 20" on Nintendo Switch games. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of a disastrous shopping encounter.Upon reaching the cashier, my excitement quickly turned to frustration when one of the games rang up as a whopping £35 instead of the advertised 2 for £20. I approached Mia, the store manager, to address the issue. To my disbelief, she was not only rude and patronizing but also insinuated that my party had placed the "2 for 20" tag on the £35 game ourselves. How insulting and deceptive!Whats even more shocking. Mia, in a move that reeks of unprofessionalism, surreptitiously removed the "2 for 20" label herself and attempted to act as if it had never been there. This blatant attempt to cover up their misleading pricing was nothing short of appalling.We were not looking for a handout or asking her to honor the deal; all we wanted was to be treated with respect. We had spent nearly £200 in that store, and Mia's treatment made us feel like criminals. It's disheartening to encounter a manager who not only lacks professionalism but also seems to have no regard for customer satisfaction.On a positive note, I must commend Laura, the cashier, who was a shining example of friendliness and helpfulness. In fact, I strongly believe that she would be a far more suitable candidate for the role of store manager, as opposed to Mia, who clearly lacks the necessary skills to handle customer interactions.In conclusion, my experience at Smythis (Lakeside, Thurrock) was marred by deceptive practices, disrespectful behavior from the manager, and an overall lack of professionalism. It's a shame that such a poorly managed establishment tarnishes the reputation of what could otherwise be a decent store. I would caution anyone considering a visit to this store to think twice before doing so.

We just been in the shop yesterday and bought mattress and car seat for our 7 month old baby.One of the member of staff was so kind and helpful.Her name is Sue,she help us a lot to find the right car seat what we looking for.We are regular clients to Smyths Toy,very proud with the customer service what they provide.Will come back soon??Many ThanksAgop :)

Very poor customer service by gary. Was actually misbehaving by not listening to the problem in the product and was forcing to take it back home. Plus the manager is the king of all he is more rude then the rest of the team. I am not happy with there sevice at all

Incredible store. Huge selection of everything from toys, games, video games, bicycles, scooters dolls, basically everything that a child might like, boy or girl.Everytime we go there with our little one we end up spending almost an hour if not more looking around.

Went to buy a trampoline, but I was not sure if my car was big enough for it. The staff was very helpful. Shout out to Alan who helped me out for the measurement and helped putting the trampoline into my car together. I really appreciated his professional and good service.

I religiously visit this shop every time, there is one Female staff member who probably doesn't want to be there at all or does not know how to communicate with customers. Neither does she know how to handle any query from customers. I came to return a damaged item, that can be fixed or returned, but we were treated as if we have done some big crime. She doesn't want to hear anything, while I was explaining and in the middle of our conversation she stood aside making a face and suddenly turn her radio on and called the manager, and started telling him (Manager) what to be done, I mean there is a reason why the manager is on his position and why she is not manager cause clearly she doesn't know how to solve any query. let the manager handle the complaint as he is good at his job.I am still waiting for the manager to contact me, it has been a number of days now. As he said he will contact manufacturer and call me, but still nothing- not sure how long it takes to contact the manufacture as they take delivery literally every week. It means they are in good contact.If you call on their landline no one answers, never, doesn't matter what time you call.One thing is for sure I will never recommend anyone to shop from here if it is for long-term use, as there is no one to handle your Query.

Went there and bought a cozy coup car for £50 for my sons 1st birthday present when we got home we started to build the little red and yellow car and bits were missing so we took it back to the shop and the young boy who did not have a clue what he was doing called another man over and they was trying to say it our error we should of none and not tried to build it how bad is this and refused to refund us. Very bad service and the manager needs to train there staff with customer service and if u have that attitude toward customers why work in a children's shop very bad service need to employ people who want to work for a children's shop
