Had the coronation chicken sandwich on granary, absolutely delicious. Coffee of a usual standard, not as good as Pret a manger!

What a beauty!
An authentic country café/restaurant. I?ve been to so many, but sadly none has ever transported me back in time with good old-fashioned, really tasty food ? until now! This place ticked every box: service, atmosphere, scenery (inside and out).
And would you believe it? Yes ? the food was divine. So tasty!
Well done, girls! ?

Been here many times when out cycling but the quality of the coffee is very poor now and only adds to the displeasure of expensive food and cakes.

Lovely place for a coffee but I paid £14 for a hallumi salad that had barely any hallumi in it. We saw someone else order it and it looked great, then our came with half as much. Ripped off.

Eek? I wanted to like the tea house, but my food was so below the mark I couldn?t.
Scrambled eggs & salmon on an English muffin, doesn?t sound a complex dish does it?
The waitress brought out my first plate, saying ?hmm, if you find those eggs overcooked, well do them again?, so I declined the rubbery gravel in the hopes for second plate of nice scramble. Sadly the second plates was equally as overcooked and without a spec of seasoning. The muffin was sliced open so all the lovely craggy texture, which comes from opening a muffin correctly, was lost besides it being barely toasted.
My portion of salmon from plate 1, to 2 was increased, I?m assuming to rectify the rest of the shambles on my plate.
It?s so hard to like a cafe when they can?t get the basics, like scrambled eggs and a toasted muffin, right. SO disappointing ?

Old worldly interior with lots of nice beams and served tea beautifully in teapots requiring tea strainers which was a great change. Not much for someone with dairy allergies and also a vegetarian and the door being left open frequently made it uncomfortable to linger.

I was a little concerned after the recent reviews. However, we found friendly service. We sat outside with our dog as it was warm enough. Lots of cyclists arrived during our visit. It certainly appears to be a favourite haunt for them. We had a lovely cream tea, which was nicer for having a warm scone and no sultanas!
