the seating area out the front meant you weren?t far from the bar and has a lovely atmosphere wether facing towards the pub or facing out to the road. i was served by imogen, she was very helpful and polite when informing us the items on the menu were not available and a friendly and welcoming face when walking into the bar. all round great sunday meal.

Stumbled across this pub on a drive looking for a good pub garden - what a find!
Staff are lovely, super welcoming & helpful - great service. Great choice on the menu(along with bbq), and the food was delicious. Highly recommend, really cute summer garden vibe too! we'll be back!

Had a burger here, this is one of the best burgers i had
And it was less than 20 pounds, friendly staff, had pint of Guinness and received ? on it which was nice, very recommended!

Lovely old pub in a great location on Danbury Common. We were happy to find it open on a sunny weekday afternoon. There is plenty of seating outside in the sun, inside it's very cosy and traditional.
This is another Shepherd Neame pub, like others in Danbury. So I was excited to see their Whitstable Bay pale ale on tape as we arrived. Unfortunately it was not at it's best, not the usual refreshing hoppy summer ale and pretty flat. Maybe too old or not well kept, but not great for one of Shepherd Neame's best beers.

Food was amazing. The service and atmosphere was diabolical. Firstly, we walked in and didn't even get acknowledged just looked at like we had 4 heads. Finally after at least 10 minutes of standing at the empty bar with 4 staff members behind it, where one said sorry we'll be with you in a minute. We got taken to the restaurant area where the manager (lady with tattoos) shood us away waving her hands like we were a bit of dirt. Very rude and could of gone about it a different way. We had to ask to order our drinks, hot chocolate took a long while to come out. We contemplated leaving multiple times but it was the menu that kept us. After 15 minutes a waitress come to take our food order. The waitresses were ok but I could sense they were all walking on egg shells. Then we went to pay and a few guys came in after us we didn't get acknowledged again but they did. We were more than polite and didn't look rough so not entirely sure why we were treated this way. Either way I won't be going back which is a shame because the food was lovely. Perhaps they need training on manors and respect.

Delicious meal! Best Tuna steak I've ever had ?? and the chocolate brownie was really light with crispy chocolate pieces in. Thoroughly enjoyable, and would definitely recommend!

Held an event here and was very well looked after and allowed to bring in photos to personalise our gathering.
An abundance of food and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend. Thanks to Steve and his team.
