We came in for lunch and drinks as were visiting family and Yates was recommended to us by a family member. We had a really nice meal and drinks and the bar and seating was lovely and spacious.
We were served by Rosie who I believe was the manager, she was very knowledgeable about the drinks and recommended several options which we very much enjoyed ? She then checked several times that everything was ok and was just lovely?.so friendly and personable. I have experienced mediocre service before elsewhere so it was just so refreshing to be served by someone like Rosie who obviously takes pride in what she does.
Meals were fresh and hot and it was just a really good and relaxing experience. We will definitely visit again when we come to Colchester and recommend you to friends and other family. Thanks so much.

Haydn was our barmen, really quick service, so polite & lovely,
We looked over at him whilst he was looking after a gentleman who was disabled, helping him with his drink and talking to him asking if he was okay & if he needed anything eles or any help, it really touched mine & my mums heart.
You don?t see that very often, what an amazing human being you have work for Yates in Colchester. 5 star to you! See you again soon!

With two 'starving' children (despite eating numerous snacks throughout the morning), we decided to go in to Yates for some lunch. I hadn't personally been to Yates for a number of years. Plenty of food options (with meal deals if you go during the week) and they also had a kids menu.
Plenty of space and fairly tidy as well. We (well the kids) chose to sit in the booths nearer the back. Food didn't take too long to arrive - and I managed to relive my old days by having the ultimate curry option (although I am sure they used to come with bhaji's and the nann looked more like a traditional naan!) Food is simple but good and reasonably priced.
For the kids there was also some colouring sheets and crayons, and because you pay for everything at the beginning there is no awkward waiting for bill where kids start getting disruptive! I actually thought this was a good place to being the kids for food, which is surprising as I would usually think of it as a drinking location!

Popped in for a 2 4 1 cocktail and was shocked by what was served up. A few ice cubes in a plastic cup with a sweat chucked in it woth thebarmans bare hands. For £12 it was awful. I wouldn't recommend the cocktails.

Went to Yates for the free family fun day they had organised, kids absolutely loved running around finding all the clues for the little hunt,to win a huge variety of fun prizes!! Zoe kindly gave them little hints and made them all feel welcome and always served us with a smile. Another lovely lady called Hannah done a wonderful job with the face paint my daughter was over the moon with her customised spider corn! Kids enjoyed the food and I enjoyed a couple of cheeky cocktails made by the wonderful Kim! It was a great day to finish the summer holidays with! Can?t wait for the next one!! ?

Popped in today for some lunch and a catch up with a friend. Food was amazing. I was served by Haydn and just want to say he is a lovely man, friendly, had a laugh with him and when I realised I didn't get my drink as we were chatting lol he sorted it out straight away.
Looking forward to coming back again.

Hayden and Kim were literally the best setting up tables for more then 15 of us. Quick service at the bar and with all our food. Nothings been a problem and they have been so helpful. Thankyou both for making us all feel so comfortable and welcome as always

Went here for cocktails, they were 2-4-1 all day which was good value and they do a list of different ones. There is a seating area outside that has cute cabin style seating with heaters.
