A fine breakfast is to be had at this location. Never disappointed with the food and with friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere it?s a fine addition to a walk around Colchester. Once again, highly recommend the breakfast.

Went with my parents for lunch, sat outside. We shared some Taster/starters, food was excellent. The young lad that served us was fantastic, friendly, attentive and had a great sense of humour.

A really nice real ale pub for people trying to escape Greene King, the staff are pleasant and make you feel welcome, the food is very good, good portions and served quickly and hot

We came in for lunch and were very happy with what we received. The sandwiches were very tasty and the chips were great. Kids meals were also good value.

Ordered a jacket potatoes (£13.95) which turned up raw!!
They kindly made me another but turned up half raw!
The waitress apologised but no effort from management to come apologise or offer a refund (or partial) or a free drink which I had to buy a second because it took over an hour before the second plate arrived ,which the manager watched me buy my second drink even though I returned my first plate to him. ( not a very happy manager with little customer service skills)
Why is the best located pub with a fantastic beer garden half empty on a hot summers day??

The Castle Inn is a large impressive pub with a contemporary feel. There is a wide selection of draft drinks, including four hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales from Timothy Taylors brewery. The ones we tried were in excellent condition. I haven't tried the food, so i can't comment, but the menu looked very tempting. There is a nice large outside seating area. The staff are very welcoming and the pub is dog friendly.

Lovely place, they have a lot of allergy friendly options and dogs are welcome. The ladies who worked on the bank holiday were really friendly and attentive. We had a lovely time!
