Called in for tea while we tried to solve our car hire issue which took 6 hours. The staff were so helpful and charged phones etc for us. As we were delayed for so long we had food there also . It was so tasty espically the monkfish rapped in pancetta. Our misfortune had a silver lining . Thank you to Chris and all the staff.Deirdre and PaulaFood & drinks: Excellent

Went for Sunday lunch only. Roast pork was stone-cold, as if from the fridge and not properly reheated. Roast beef was better. Yorkshire pudding was soft and not crisp, but other veg and gravy were acceptable. Shan't be returning there anytime soon. Certainly not for Sunday Roast. Very disappointed.

Stayed here for a wedding and to do some sight seeing. Lovely hotel, beautiful breakfast, great service, good cocktails and good location.

Stayed at the hotel with work,great central location. Service was fantastic thank you all,especially Julie. Rooms just require air conditioning during the summer months. Great breakfast as well.

Clean, inviting, excellent restaurant and relaxing bar area. Breakfast was delicious! Good night sleep even, comfy bed and one of the nicest places to rest your head. Good for couples or business. Reception staff were attentive and welcoming.

(Partner's review) normally apprehensive about British B&Bs/hotels due to their tendency towards stingy crapness that wouldn't be tolerated in some other countries, but this place was faultless. Would highly recommend; sensible check out time, comfy clean room, proper shower, expresso machine and complimentary viennese whirls, decent breakfast,walking distance to town

My wife and I have used the Green Room restaurant for many years and visit several times a year. The food and service is always excellent and the new menu format is a great innovation. The staff are always polite, friendly and professional, especially Julie.

Love. Love, Love the new makeover! Really good small plates food, fantastic wine list. Had a cheeky little organic Spanish white, only £22. The North Hill Hotel and Green Room has taken itself up a level. Get down there!

Delicious breakfast. My custom porridge (with cinnamon and brown sugar rather than honey) was amazing and the Eggs Royale (poached on a muffin with spinach, smoked salmon and hollondaise sauce) was delicious. A welcome change from my Premier Inn breakfast the previous morning.The cheaper rooms have some road noise, but they thoughtfully provided free earplugs and I slept well - so no complaints there.

Fantastic , friendly staff. Hotel was good but the staff definately make this hotel better than most. Bed was comfy and all clean. Had both bath and shower in the room. Had a recommendation for a meal at the Noodle restra urant across the road, it was excellent.

Personnel super gentil, agréable et compétent ! Petit déjeuner super bon ! La literie est confortable, prévoyez juste des boule quies pour dormir si vs n'aimez pas le bruit sinon je recommande à 100%

Just got back from a 1 night stay at the North Hill Hotel and what a fabulous place it is. I was visiting Colchester for a work trip so had a single room booked and it was absolutely perfect, comfy, fan provided, tea and coffee making facilities in the room, lovely and clean en suite too! From the moment I arrived I felt very welcome, I did not have dinner at the restaurant but breakfast was included and it was really lovely! Ideally situated for the high Street and an easy walk (up hill) from the train station. I would definitely return again if I travel for leisure and business!
