Disappointed by Lack of Flexibility and Retention Efforts- Mortgage
We have been longstanding Nationwide customers and have never missed a mortgage payment. As part of our property move, we were hoping to stay with Nationwide, trusting that our history and loyalty would be valued. Unfortunately, our recent experience left us disappointed.
Despite providing evidence of financial stability and bonus income, our case was dismissed on technicalities without any real effort to find a solution. The rigid stance on early repayment charges?even when we expressed our intention to stay with Nationwide?and the lack of competitive short-term options under the enhanced affordability route made us feel more like a transaction than valued clients.
We hoped for flexibility or at least some willingness to retain us by offering terms that aligned with our circumstances. Instead, we were left feeling that the only option was to explore other lenders. This was a missed opportunity to maintain a loyal customer relationship

Nationwide mortgages are a joke they give you a mortgage in principle and you pay for solicitors to buy a house, sell your house and suddenly you don't meet their criteria. 8 weeks with my mortgage broker I was eligible all along but this hasn't just happened to me, it was awful when you are unsure if your mortgage will be agreed even though you are given documents that say to go buy a house. Say in the jacuzzi moaning to my mum and two other people said they had same thing happen to them via nationwide.

So, I needed help. Not having a great time and having to provide 2 years worth of financial evidence for the worst of reasons! Out of all of the banks that I walked into today, Nationwide stood out far beyond the other 4 financial institutions for the best of reasons. Thanks only to Tom and Fiona. A great team at the front desk doing a great job. Tom was very quick to identify my needs and dealt with me brilliantly. Whilst Fiona dealt with all of the other enquiries brilliantly and effortlessly, Tom was busy with me and both of them wore a big smile to boot. Thus leaving all customers extra happy. Pay attention, that is what customer service looks like! So, I would like to thank both of them for their efforts. Thanks Tom and Fiona! Alla prossima volta! Grazie :)

Terrible experience over the last few days. Several hundreds of pounds out of pocket. Nearly 3 hours on the phone plus a visir to a branch. Told someone from the complaints department would phone me urgently. Nothing. Do not use. I wanted to give them zero stars. Have contacted the banking ombudsman

Visited Colchester branch for the first time since opening my account recently to deposit a cheque and found the staff to be very helpful and considerate of my disability needs. I would also add that the transition from my previous bank has been trouble free and very smooth indeed. Wish I had changed current account from the Halifax many years ago. Well done to all at Nationwide.

Can be long queues . Staff always helpful . Opening times are for the new life of coronvirus.. hope it helps
