Great HMV with a really good location and massive range of products. Their vinyls can be on the pricier side but that?s usually because they are newly released albums. You?ll find all music you?re looking for in various forms and their posters are always brilliant. I?ve always bought them from here. And the music they play is always iconic.

Went to buy a 4K movie from this store in Colchester until I was greeted by a really rude manager at the tills. He spoke down to me as if I was stupid and refused to give me a physical receipt and instead demanded he did it digitally as apparently this what most customers do these days. When I said no and opted for a physical receipt, he got rude again and displayed a bad attitude. This manager is a joke, and needs more training in customer service.

Picked up a couple of 4K's on the 2 for £30 offer, or at least that's what I thought I was picking up. They had out of date stickers and promotions on films on an offer that already ended. One of the films was on the offer the other was not, despite the sticker on the product saying it was. I've had this problem a fair few times when visiting different HMV's, or a wrong price on the product for example. We are all human and we all make mistakes. Usually the staff just apologise then put it through at the advertised price, as most retailers would, as they are the ones who are in the wrong. However in this particular occurrence I was met with a rude, arrogant, unpleasant and later I'd find out liar of a manager. After trying to make my purchase, one 4K was on the falsely advertised offer, I was refused the transaction then met with hostility after I questioned why. He called one of his colleagues to quickly check the shop floor to remove any other out of date labels of other products, then he proceeded to take the discs and put them under the counter completely out of my reach and removing any proof that he was in wrong. Unbeknownst to him at the time I had already taken a picture of the discs on the offer. I was refused the transaction and not given any reason as to why other than "he can't sell them to me". I asked to see in writing the companies policy that he can do this, I was refused, asked to speak to another manager, was refused. I was being spoken down, belittle all while this was going on. It felt like he was trying to purposely antagonise me so they could get security to escort me out of the store, I've worked in the retail sector before so knew immediately what was going on as so didn't bite or lower myself to this manager's level. At this point I'm not bothered about buying the discs anymore and more shocked at such abysmal customer service. Then the manager walks off and starts serving other customers on another till, abandoning me at this particular till, now I'm a customer, what kind of company treats customers like this? I wasn't being aggressive or unpleasant, I just wanted to buy the 4Ks and if not then see the companies policy in writing as to why they can refuse advertised priced products on the shelf. I should mention that the difference in price that this manger was making such a big deal about was around £5. You'd think the pricing error was in the hundreds. This incident happened a month back and I've been in contact with HMV's customer service and waited until I'd finished with them before writing a review, and though they admitted to being at fault twice, the incorrect advertised price and the awful customer service, all I received was a generic copy and paste apology. The company also implied that the complaint I'd made to them was "my description" or "my story", despite all the evidence being clearly factual on the cctv recording in the store. I could tell the cctv hasn't been viewed as the managers response had lies in it. He claimed he only left me on the till as it was busy and he went to serve other customers. it was a Wednesday afternoon, hardly a peak time, there was about 2 or 3 customers behind me and there was another cashier serving on the till at this exact time. There was other lies in his response too, all evidence would be on the cctv of which I mentioned at least 4 times though they choose to ignore every response I made to it, weather purposely or not I don't know, he may have deleted it. If this was just a colleague it still wouldn't be acceptable but you could just chalk it up to a bad worker, but this was a manger, someone who greatly represent the company. I really don' know how a company that's been in administration twice in the last 10 years can act like this towards customers but here we are. I use to always enjoy shopping in HMV and greatly believed in supporting the high street, but I won't be shopping in any HMV ever again an
