St. Anne's is located at the end of narrow Church Lane about a mile walk from the centre of Elmstead Market. In many ways it's a traditional style rural Essex church, but has some features untypical of the local area, most obviously the red pantiles roof. The main entrance porch is located in the tower. Although it's offset from the main building & also has a red pantiles spire, but the steeple isn't much taller than the rest of the roof. The interior of St. Anne's feels light & spacious with a mix of clear & stained glass windows. The churchyard is also very attractive with a garden area outlined in red-brick. Owing to the siting of St. Anne's, away from the village's busy main road, the churchyard is always tranquil & secluded. Latterly the village church serving Elmstead Market has also been dedicated to St. Laurence because of the closing of the church of that name in nearby Frating.
