We had an exceptional experience at DFS thanks to Emma, who was incredibly helpful, patient, and transparent throughout our sofa purchase. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel comfortable and took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for?no pressure, just genuine support.
Emma guided us through all the options, answered every question with honesty and clarity, and never rushed us, even when we took our time deciding. Her knowledge of the products was impressive, but what really stood out was her transparency?she clearly explained all the features, timelines, and costs without any hidden surprises.

We have not yet ordered our sofa so I cannot rate the comfort or delivery of dfs sofas but this 5 staff review is for the staff! Chris was so helpful and kind today, big shoutout for the great customer service, thanks!

Disappointing Compensation & Customer Service ? Be Cautious When Ordering from DFS Colchester
After waiting over five months for our new furniture from DFS, we were excited for its arrival?only to be met with disappointment. The sofa had two small holes in the rear, a clear defect upon delivery. When we reported the issue, a technician was sent to assess the damage, but instead of offering a proper fix, we were simply advised to have it glued!
The only alternatives presented were either a meagre £150 compensation or another four-month wait for a replacement section. Given the uncertainty of whether the replacement would match in quality due to the necessary restuffing of the arms etc, we reluctantly accepted the compensation.
While we had no choice but to make the best of a frustrating situation, this experience has left us disillusioned with DFS?s approach to customer service. If you?re considering ordering from DFS, be aware that issues like these seem to occur frequently, with limited resolution options.

DO NOT ORDER FROM DFS.
We put our original order through in January. When the sofa was due they ended up trying to deliver the wrong sofa so we had to wait ANOTHER 8 weeks as ours ended up in Dublin and couldn?t be shipped back down. After waiting the additional 8 weeks we have now been told only 1 of our 2 sofas have been made and dispatched. This is absolutely appalling service and I await a response from my 2ND formal complaint. As DFS states ?do not get rid of old furniture until delivery date has been confirmed? we sold our old sofa when the first delivery was confirmed and we may now need to wait even longer for our sofa. I cannot stress enough how stressful and terrible this service has been. Will be telling friends and family not to use DFS again.

I popped in today and was greeted by Rachel, I did say I was inspiration shopping yet she still sat down with me and to chat and even offered me a coffee while I browsed. Everyone was so lovely but I thought Rachel deserves a shout out for being so lovely and genuinely interested in speaking to me

Absolutely horrible customers service. They never keep their promise on follow up , I?m always the one who have to chaise from them any update . Manager of the store (lady) promised me that she will call me back to update me regarding my replacement parts and she never done it . Customer service support team ignored my 4 emails and never replied . Now I?ll share my experiences about their ?high standard? quality of products. It?s absolute joke. We bought very expensive L shape sofa and it?s looked lovely and great in the store , when we received our product (sofa) it?s was not the same quality as the one that was in the store . Seats were very soft not as firm as they supposed to be when you sit down it just sink in and no support at all. We went to the store in colchester and reported the issue. It took them around 1,5 weeks to send inspector to see what was the issue. Once he came he confirmed that there was a problem with insert (parts that they filled up the sofa seats) it was from different suppliers and even looked different to each other one was good quality and rest 3 were poor quality from different supplier as the inspector explained to us. How could they even send an expensive item like this to customer without even doing final check up in the factory?! So make sure if you buy something from them check all your insert parts as it could be different to each other. They will use one good quality and rest put something else. Inspector came in November 2024 , today is 20th of January 2025 nothing yet from them no update whatsoever . I?m very disappointed won?t recommend this company. Not suprise why they have such a poor reviews.

DON?T JUDGE PEOPLE..On 22/11/2024 i went to this store to get some stuff for our new home.. but unfortunately there was a old lady staff who wasn?t very welcoming. i can clearly see and felt that her gesture and expression towards us was very inappropriate. she might throught we were there only to look not to buy.even once my eye gaze with her and i smiled to her but she was like who cares.so we decided to run away from there.sorry to say but this kind of attitude is very bad for store and customer service.

DONT SHOP HERE!
We brought a Trek Left Hand Facing 2 Corner 1 Power Recliner and Console in April 2022, by April 2024 one of the reciners was catching and making a banging noise every time it was moved, the cousins sunk/lost their shape too. We went and spoke to DFS and we were 1 week past the 2 year warranty. We spoke to someone and they just sorry but we won't do anything even though it was a product issue. We spent just over 2k on the products from them and they were not interested in helping us out. The sofas are some.of the worst we have ever brought. All we wanted was someone to come and look at it and see if it can be fixed, if not replace for a different sofa. A product of this cost should not be loosing it's shape in the cussions or moving out of shape causing a load banging every time you recline the chair.
The customer service at this shop was so poor it was a joke really. The products look and feel cheap, I would highly recommend going elsewhere where and shop at a better quality outlet. These sofas seem to be low quality but high price.

I was putting off buying a sofa because online stores are an absolute minefield, in the end decided an in person shopping experience was needed! I?m glad I did :)
The staff at DFS were all so friendly and attentive, without being pushy!
Staff were all so helpful, offered me their advice and opinions (which I had asked for), I was offered a drink and wasn?t pushed into making any decisions.
Bought a lovely sofa with the help of Singh, who was super friendly and helpful, gave me advice on which sofas were in my budget and what options to go for etc.
Would absolutely return when I?m next in the market for a sofa and likely wouldn?t put it off for so long next time!

Avoid buying from DFS Colchester.
We had a sofa which had issues from the very beginning - reclining mechanism and seat sinking - needed fixing on a brand new sofa, which did get fixed eventually.
The next issue within the guaranteed period - stitching fell apart from the 3-seater sofa and the upholsterer came out and fixed.
However, the sofa leather ripped outside the guaranteed period at the exact same spot the stitching was fixed.
Went into store to buy another new sofa and asked for a small discount due to my experience and was met by an assistant manager - impolite and kept referring to outside the guaranteed period.
I was loyal to this store for over 10 years and many purchases - not anymore. I will never buy from this store.

Me and my partner got a sofa from here last month. The customer service at the store was amazing by the guy who helped us purchase the sofa. He was brilliant. The issue we had was the delivery team and customer service team. So we paid £99 for delivery which was only a 10 minute drive to our place. We added to our delivery notes to call an hour before they was coming to deliver as we work a lot and would be able to make sure someone was home at that time and as we was also informed that they would be going to other places like Braintree etc as Colchester would be the last destination they would be delivering to (which I completely understand). The day the sofa was scheduled for they called us 10 minutes before they was delivering (which we had stated we can be home for the time but let us know an hour before) as we was told that the likeliness of them coming to us in the morning before 3 wouldn?t be possible and the lady in the store confirmed that (she was the one who informed us with all the delivery information). So during the call we explained that we asked for a call an hour prior to delivery so if they can give us an hour so we could be there, we was told the driver will contact the store and call us back. Absolutely no call back all day. So both me and my partner during the day kept contacting the store and we was told we would get a call back. No call backs nothing. The next day we got a text for a rescheduled delivery. For 1 or 2 weeks later. One of the men who delivered it (which I?m assuming was the guy from the first day) wasn?t very happy he had to come back but the other guy was nice was having a conversation with my partner and the one who wasn?t very happy was trying to rush and cut him off conversation every time he was talking to my partner. He also threw the cushions to the sofa on the floor outside of our front door. This is the first time we have got anything from here and it?s a bit sad to see such bad service from a customer service team and delivery team. I don?t expect to pay £99 for a delivery to have to be rescheduled for longer after having to already wait 2 weeks for the sofa due to people not being able to read notes which was put in place and confirmed this would be absolutely fine to do as they completely understood the situation and confirmed there would be no problems.

We went in today and purchased a Coffee Table and a side Table. The Lady in there today was simply Exellent at her job,she was polite and we felt really comfortable with her and she explained everything well so thankyou to her .
