Food was very below par and the coffee was possibly one of the worst I?ve had. Both cold and hot coffees not worth drinking and food bland and tasteless. Would not recommend.

This cafe has a lovely garden with shady areas. The staff are all very welcoming and attentive. We had a quick lunch (tuna flatbread and tuna jacket potato) which were both great and good value.

I've lived in Colchester most my life, so I'm annoyed that I just recently found this absolute gem! So in the last month we have visited 4 times as I don't think I'd get better elsewhere! Lovely menu with plenty of different options and I'm making my way through the lovely teas. The food we have received has been just perfect and delicious. Pretty outside seating and also lovely inside. And the absolute kicker is the value, so much good quality food for a very reasonable price. We won't go anywhere else now ? and also the lovely staff who are so welcoming and friendly. Lovely young girl always asks what we are up to for the rest of the day and she genuinely seems interested, absolutely wonderful ? thanks for making our weekends just perfect!

Booked afternoon tea for 2 for my mums birthday, wish I hadn?t bothered, for £33 the portion size was ridiculous for that price I would of expected more, then to have pay extra for cold drinks as they couldn?t be swapped with the cups of tea, honestly very disappointed wouldn?t bother with it again

I wanted timbers, wife wanted more refined breakfast which wasn?t on timbers menu such as eggs Benedict which cafe 21 which is next door to timbers and same group which meant I received my timber quality brekkie and wife received eggs Benedict salmon and avocado
Superb, it really was and great value, don?t normally give 20% tip but staff and meal were worth it

Scones were dry & crumbled so you couldn?t put anything on them, most of it fell on the floor! I asked them if they were fresh they looked at one another & then one said oh yes this morning, but seemed stale! They didn?t care. I?d asked for some mayo with my flatbread but he never came back, I looked around but there were no condiments except for salt on the table, & the tea was so weak, must be the cheapest bags. So we had bad food, atrocious service attitude & atmosphere was awful! & expensive for what we got.

Had a very delicious traditional Christmas lunch with a friend. The staff are always very friendly and even accommodated my strange request for 'no gravy'!
