Visited today with my other half and our 2 year old daughter. Lovely visit. We sat outside overlooking the countryside and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed playing with the dogs that live there! Both had a very nice cream tea. The owner was very friendly and nothing was too much bother. We'll definitely be back to try the sandwiches and highly recommend it!

Brilliant super dog friendly brunch spot and tea rooms. Really friendly staff - couldn?t have been kinder to show me local dog walks nearby and an incredible full English - plus a lovely drive through the countryside to get there - highly recommend!! ? ?? ? ?

What a great hidden gem tucked out the way. Best breakfast I think I've ever had. Quality produce used. Lovely presentation. Service superb. Staff very friendly and attentive. Was greeted by some very well behaved dogs. (Dogs welcome). All in all a great place to dine and enjoy the countryside. Would definitely recommend.

Arrived on Saturday lunchtime to be told there was no service as they were to busy with afternoon tea service to offer us the full menu.
We then told we could have have cake which we decided yes to but the scone was a least a day old- very dusty and the cherry bakewell was sandy in texture like it was missing a key ingredient. The young man serving us was lovely as the older gentleman was obviously too "busy" to actually make an effort. He was more concerned with telling a group of guests about different flavors of teas.
My mum went to the bathroom that had no toilet paper, was dirty and the bin was overflowing. This was open to the place where they serving food. I was really sad and disappointed as I had read really good reviews online and I had chosen it on our route. Unfortunately I would not recommend and wouldn't suggest others go.

Came across this place by chance. You're welcomed by the dogs who are very friendly. There's outdoor seating with a water feature. Plenty of room inside.
Great food, excellent presentation. The floral decor is edible if you want to eat it.
Great service.
Can't recommend it highly enough

I found Poppy's Barn online and hired a space to have afternoon tea with 17 guests as a baby shower. Throughout the process, Stuart and the team were incredibly attentive and provided a fantastic service. When we did pop to the venue for lunch to sample some food, Stuart took time to come and speak with us to get an idea of what we wanted, how timings would work and to show us the space.
On the day the staff were really helpful, allowing us to decorate the space how we wished and making sure we had everything we needed.
They were able to cater to many dietary requirements to a very high standard, those with dietary requirements did not feel like they were missing out at all which is often the way in other places. The attached picture of the dairy free (!!) afternoon tea speaks for itself - it was beautifully presented and tasted amazing.
The whole event went very smoothly thanks to Stuart and his team, so thank you very much. Definitely a spot I would highly recommend for a lunch, afternoon tea or weekend coffee if you are in the area.

Groups of 6 or more have 15% added to their bill.
At least 3 of our group (of 6) were charged for items they did not have. (Be vigilant when paying.)
In response to the owner's comment below, I was charged over £15 for beans on toast (£5.45) and one coke (£3.95). With the 15% extra added for groups of 6 or more, this should have been £10.81. It is true that the person on the till said "beans on toast and coke" ; clearly there was an error. Not just with me, but with at least 2 other people in the group.

This is not a one star review????.but it will highlight a point to the unsuspecting.
Yesterday when I went to pay my bill I didn?t expect an argument over a 15% surcharge.
Poppy?s charge this for a party/group of six people or more. (In the small print)
I can understand this charge if a table had been ?reserved?; or if a party wanted their order taken so that they can all dine together.
We did not reverse a table as our meeting time is never specific and our numbers vary.
Some arrive, eat, and leave at different times.
Our contravention appears to be an overlap of six people. (which was in fact a short period of time)
During the time we were there however we did not require, expect, or get any special service from the staff.
Therefore my notice to the owner would be???.If it?s that important for you to charge clients extra, make sure they know in advance and give them the service for what you want to charge them for!!!!
Poppy?s tearoom (business hours of a café) is not a restaurant.
If it were a restaurant I would?ve complained about the service but I didn?t, because it?s a café.
BTW, you might want to take down the ?cyclist welcome? sign.
Previously four stars.

Happy to find this place for lunch on a longer bike ride. Food is a step up from most cafes and the hot chocolate was delicious, chocolaty and hot (an all too rare combination). Deserves to be busier. Friendly and welcoming owner. Food service not fast but high quality. Plenty of bike parking and friendly dogs.

Incredibly impressed with the afternoon tea. The food was well made and delicious, beautifully presented, and staff were wonderful. I?m a vegan and the effort made to cater for all dietary requirements was above and beyond. Thank you!

An absolutely amazing Afternoon Tea for my mum?s 80th birthday. The team went above and beyond for a scrumptious, beautifully displayed spread. Even our mixture of various dietary requirements didn?t faze them and the best and tastiest gluten free option ever! So many variations of sandwiches and cakes, pots of jam and cream for scones, fresh juicy fruit and pretty flower decor. The whole team were so lovely, attentive and helpful. We?ll definitely be back!
Dietary restrictions: All dietary requirements catered for with good understanding

Really lovely Tea Room, very friendly service, and one of the best bacon and egg rolls I have eaten. The bakewell cake was amazing, complete with very tasty strawberries, blueberries and an edible violet flower on the side. Perhaps a bit on the pricey side, but then you get what you pay for!
