I am new to the area and this was my 2nd order with them because my first one was awful and I really wanted it to work with my local chippy. I absolutely love the shop, decor and loud funky music. The food was awful again though. I ordered pie and mash which I had 2 mouthfuls of before I threw it. The pie was soggy and the mince tasted like anything but mince. Mash had huge lumps in. A side of chips that looked and taste like they had been re-fried 3 times by the time I got them. Honestly it all went in the bin. The girl at the front however, amazing service and she was very much on the ball and self organised. The food was very well packaged and presentation was great though. Good prices. Just a little tweaking on the food itself. X

Came in for Saveloy and chips and was told it would be a 20min wait as they were busy and only one microwave....Opted for the pie mash n liquor instead and waited over 20minutes so may as well had the saveloy. The pie was soggy underneath and the liquor was gloopy and congealed (also a strange colour compared to normal!) They also gave me the wrong drink which I had to go back in to change! This use to be a really good chippy but it has gone down hill. ?

We arrived to staff arguing with a customer, we then placed our order which when we got home was completely wrong.....our order was:
Chicken burger...mayo & tomato
Large cod & chips
1/4 cheese burger meal with drink
What we got was very disappointing....
Chicken burger...spicy with mayo/lettuce
1/4 cheese NO CHIPS OR DRINK
Small cod & large chips
I had to go back in to ask for my drink.....thought we had the correct order BUT no. I have made 10 calls to the shop to rectify their mistake but got no answer...how do you run a business not answering a phone, I could have been placing an order
I will not be returning as poor service & disgraceful attitude to customers, I understand you were busy but no need to be rude to customers

Just ordered with these guys, I normally order all the time I don?t go anywhere else for a fish and chips, the food was inedible and all tasted of onion, ownership has changed and the service was terrible I ended up returning the food and all they offered was to give the next order for half price, not going to be eating here again as the quality has gone awful, it?s a shame such a nice place I always eat at has now gone bad

Cheap yummy food and quick service! The customer service was amazing but the seating could be better. Overall it was lovely and I will be coming back.

Ate here for 1st time on a whim. Glad I did as the Savloy and chips were both fresh and tasty. Staff very friendly. Portion size was generous. Will be back!

Very difficult to write a positive review when your food doesn't actually show up.
After calling twice and being assured my delivery was on its way 10 minutes before closing time and approx 1hr 30 mins after placing my order, I eventually was forced to give up when they stopped answering the phone upon closing.
When I've eaten from here in the past it's been pretty good but I'm not sure that will happen again now.
Whatever you do - don't bother getting delivery

Haven?t seen a chippy that?s as affordable as this one
Plus, the food was amazing! I am one of those that goes to a chippy every Friday and I happen to be driving through Ongar and chose this one. I have no regrets!!
I hope I have more jobs in the area cause I would love to make this one of my regular meals a week

This review is a few days late tbh however it was only last week so the experience is still fresh in my head. I only ordered a regular chips, however the service was shocking! The person serving me had a mouth full of food spitting over the counter top when asking me my order. He continued to eat with his hand only taking a break to serve my sub par chips.
Point to note: at no time did he excuse himself for eating just continued as if I was an imposition on his day.
I definitely would not recommend after the experience, the only plus side to this shop is its locality to where I live!

I?ve never been to a chippy with such a great variety of food! I chose the 1/4 pounder with cheese - it was DELISH! The staff are great, and chips were perfect, with extra salt and vinegar as I requested! Curry sauce was also a great consistency and complimented the chips so well.

I am disgusted by the experience here. The food was downright terrible?tasteless and soggy chips that seemed like they'd been sitting out for ages. To make it worse, the staff was rude and full of attitude, making the whole experience unbearable. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Avoid it if you want a decent meal and decent service!
