If this was based purely on front of house service this would have been 5 stars. Kirsty was helpful, had good communication and is an ambassador for the venue. Food was tasty and fresh.

My Greek salad with Halloumi fries was very nice £17.95. However, a friend of mine got the Caesar salad and that was very disappointing. All lettuce, dressing & croutons. Maybe it left the kitchen before it was fully made. Expensive at £11.95.
Under new independent ownership. Established in 1679 as a coaching inn, The King's Head in Chipping Ongar is the oldest brick-fronted building on Ongar High Street. Named after King James II, who is believed to have stayed here during his reign, our Grade II listed building is home to a contemporary 100 seat restaurant with full length open kitchen, large covered terrace and beer garden, plus traditional areas with open fires serving teas and coffees.
