My names Liam I went in for a carvery today at Chelmsford Toby carvery about 19.30 ish I?m annoyed at the following
As I walked in the staff just looked at me and wouldn?t show me to my seating area to eat ,
Then once I was settled in and went up for my food I wa sever by a waitress with no chef gear on no gloves , hat , safety net and in normal working clothes what is the worst thing they could of done that?s a hygiene law broken then ,
When I sweating my food the meat was horrible not cooked correctly as I expected it to it?s gammon the easiest thing to cook in the word ?,
Roast potatoes was black and burned and really hard not soft at all the mash was still hard were it wasn?t mashed properly at all veg was cold as ice , Yorkshire hard and crispy .
Then when I walked outside I was throwing up and got back home throwing up and to keep stopping my car to be sick really shouldn?t have to deal with this as a customer I hope that I haven?t caught anything illness wise as it make me spend time of work and loose money ,
All I?ve reported it to the council Chelmsford and to the food hygiene team as was very unpleasant and unsatisfied was my meal toady and hopefully things will get better once the issue is resolved don?t recommend eating there till the problem been resolved

Breakfast visit, the selection was empty and what food was left was so bad it was disappointing to say the least. The bacon was the only part that was ok but then it was dry . The eggs we had to wait for arrived snotty and literally floating in oil . The scraping of beans I managed to get was cold and runny . The sausages were ok but again just lukewarm. My coffee was tasteless and bland . After waiting 5 minutes for the toast machine to complete making my toast everything was cold . £11 well spent not really. I would have to recommend you avoid this Toby until they get their act together and deal with the problem. The chef can?t be a real chef to put out food on this low quality. It?s just basic food. Beans , egg , etc . Very disgusting and disappointing visit. Even the bread for the toast was empty. Visiting 45 minutes after opening it?s not like we arrived at the end of the breakfast service.

Update, so finally refurbished, loos are now much much nicer, overall clean and bmuch brighter, food not great was dry and apparently now if you want scrambled eggs you need to request them.

Friendly staff swift service unfortunately cleanliness was very poor, not sure I woukd eat there again after seeing the gents toilets.
You can see the door had had not been cleaned in months if not years. Especially with the resent covid pandemic I woukd have expected things to be extra clean.
If that's how the things we can see are what state is the kitchen that we can't see.

The roast was really nice, especially the stuffing and Yorkshire pudding, but I wish the potatoes were crisper. For dessert I had the bramley apple pie, but it was cold in the middle. Lovely service and waitresses though, and the atmosphere was very cosy. There's a huge variety of food here and it's amazing for the price, I would definitely come back for more ?

Friendly staff however it was untidy and food on the carpet. Would not visit again. We visited early February on a Sunday evening.

We have visited many times over the years but unfortunately this time round the person greeting us at the door was really unprofessional and rude. There was a range of comments that she made throughout her time they made this an uncomfortable experience. Such a shame!

Whatever you do, never order take away from here. Ordered, turned up without the meat. Called to see if they can send it, to which the guy on the phone says 'guess they f'd up in the carvery' and then told me there's no meat left. SHAMBLES!!

The building is almost dilapidated and scruffy. Really needs some work. Service was ok but staff seemed unmotivated. Nobody was rude and staff seemed pleasant enough. It?s just a tired, scruffy place with dry food.

Poor service and the veg was dried out and thin on the ground. The server of the meat wasn't very friendly either. Not rude but certainly blunt.
