I?d like to give a big thank you to Carol for her friendly and helpful service while assisting us with purchasing Pokémon cards. Her customer service made the experience much smoother, especially after a long wait to find stock actually available on shelves. (5 stars for Carol) ??
While Carol was fantastic, it?s worth mentioning that we had visited the store several times over a few weeks without much support from other staff, and stock often seemed completely unavailable or tucked away out of sight. Carol made the difference, and we truly appreciated her help.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Carol at the Chelmsford Smyths Toy Store for her outstanding customer service. She went above and beyond over the phone to help me locate a toy that was the very last one in stock. Even though she wasn?t required to, she kindly reserved it for me?something I truly appreciated.
When I arrived at the store, I instantly knew who she was just by watching how warmly and professionally she interacted with other customers. Carol is a real credit to the team. Thank you again for your help?it made all the difference!

free face paint at smyths today but Rude face painter need better training around kids especially one with SEN problems and allowing parent to reassure her child instead of telling them to go away when the child needs too be shown what she is saying. ruined my time in smyths went in happy came out fuming.

Just wanted to leave a little review as we had great care after our 3 year old was hurt in Smyths today, the manager, Phil, along with a few staff members were very quick to come and check on him, brought an ice pack, and even a toy to distract him! Phil in particular was great with ensuring we were all OK after the incident (son ran into a ladder!) And gave us some advice and reassurance. We are so grateful for the kindness from all the staff today!

I went to this Smyth's today, I came straight from work after a 12 hour night shift, I drove an hour to get there for when they opened but l I was early, I wanted to chat with someone regarding collecting a set of hot wheels that says it's in stock online, before I could even ask my question I was rudely interrupted and told "I'm not helping you until we open" all I wanted to know was if it actually was in-stock or not as I don't want to waste more time waiting in the carpark rather than going home ? very poor customer interaction skills.

Had a lovely experience in the end buying a travel system, although staff should be trained on the information they are giving out to public I was told that I need to check with my hospital as I may NEED an infant carrier to go home as I had already purchased another seat suitable from birth. This is a complete myth and was actually trying not to laugh when the staff member was saying this. Could you imagine hospitals full of mothers not allowed to leave because they do not have an infant carrier. Ridiculous ?

Terrible customer service! If you want to return or exchange an item they make it extremely hard. I was refused to get a refund or exchange on a faulty item, they didn't care what the fault was they just said no. Tried to return/exchange it the day after purchase, i hadn't even had the item for 24 hours!
I had a call back from management the next day and they were so rude and unhelpful on the phone.
Would usually spend hundreds of pounds in store at christmas and birthdays but i will not be shopping at Smyths again. Very disappointing!

Very rude and unhelpful staff. I bought a buggy and no one told me that you can't return it. When I tried to return it because of a design flaw they said I can't do it and it's not their problem. Reading other reviews it seems like it's a common practice for them to scam people and not to give refunds as they supposed to.
I will never go back there again.

Carol at the till this morning was amazing, she made our little boy very happy on his trip to celebrate being dummy free for a week, she is amazing with kids and very polite in general, she deserves some recognition for sure x

Would never buy from here again. Purchased a travel cot, when I got it home some one the stitching on the changing table part was coming undone, on top of that, I when collapsing the cot (following instructions) the buttons kept catching back on after I had released them so it took multiple people to put it down as we needed to hold in the buttons on each side. The following morning I went to return the FAULTY item. Well never have I had such a fuss about issuing a refund. They point blank refused and were so rude about the situation, got the cot out in the middle of the store to try and prove me wrong, of course it kept catching on so then they claimed it was meant to do that, there were 4 members of staff gathered around me claiming I wasn?t able to get a refund. I work in retail management, have done for years (not that I mentioned that to them) so I know exactly what I am entitled to and I know how a customer should be treated in this situation. I left with a full refund after lots of back and forth, but no apology (obviously) I politely thanked that group of staff for their time on my way out, to which I received an angry glare.
Refunds are part of the service retailers provide, if you don't like it, id suggest a new career choice.
