Only open 9.30-3pm mon-fri, used to close at 5pm, i turned up at 4pm and it's closed, the bank managers got a easy job , because it's hardly ever open.

This isn't directly at this branch even tho I was on hold for god knows how long and had to hang up but I had an issue at an ATM and the money came out on a tilt and some fell out and the door shut before I could get all my money out. It took me 7 hours to get someone to help just for me to be told I had to wait for paperwork 7 - 10 days then after that the issue would be investigated. I said not to bother as it was only £10 I lost from £210 so I said can you cancel the paperwork and they can't even do that themselves I have to wait and cancel it myself. Imagine if I didn't get any of the £210. The time it takes to get any help or support is dreadful and even the app is so bad always error try again later. I'm beyond done with this bank

I've been with Santander for over 20 years, and my experience with their business accounts has been a mixed bag. Their customer verification process is cumbersome and only operates Monday to Friday, 9-5. A minor mistake, like entering the wrong password, means you're locked out until the next business day, which is frustrating in this digital age.
The verification portal often lacks the necessary information, leading to inconsistent responses from customer service. Santander no longer services business accounts in-branch, not even for over-the-counter payment transfers, pushing everything online.
On the personal side, Santander's restrictive stance on cryptocurrency, in contrast to Barclays' more flexible approach, led me to shift more of my funds to Barclays. After a particularly frustrating experience with Santander, I moved one of my business accounts to Tide within 30 minutes, and so far, it?s been seamless. More are very likely to follow.
Santander's branch staff are friendly but limited to checklist tasks, often redirecting you for more complex needs to a phone based customer service agent.
Several friends with private banking accounts are also considering switching due to these outdated practices. In 2024, banking is more flexible and user-friendly if you look elsewhere.

Great big branch, lots of open plan offices and only three tills manned by ONE person with several queuing. This is banking 2024. Closed our local branch so can't go there. Have to drive and park (at substantial cost) into Chelmsford.
Utterly useless.

The Staff are most helpful when I?ve had a problem and they have sorted it out for me, I have been with Santander since the 80s and I?ve moved a few times and have been in several branches, and all have provided help and information I needed, keep up the good work.

I found that suddenly inspite of enough balance and giving approval by sending Y as instructed on their text message for online payment they still blocked my payment to WordPress for Web hosting and also their online banking or customer service and number with PIN texted to me did not work abd text had come from different mobile number. I had to visit branch for everything till date, phone and online services are not upto mark and wait times 30 to 40 mins and to repeat everything to multiple agents they keep transferring calls to. When they don't offer any interest on deposits made to 123 or current accounts then at least service should be immediately processed if its our money they are keeping for free. Its just a wrong system too as initiative we had 5 to 8 percent bank interest on deposits or FDs.

Absolutely shocking customer service. Having had a account for 18 years building up a small fund for my oldest daughter we wanted to change the account into her name and open her her own current account. We had been informed a couple of weeks ago by a member of staff that us we just needed to come in with her at any time, just call in. So, having queued in the Saturday traffic for over 30 mins to get into Chelmsford, we today went in to do this. When we got there we were told we needed an appointment to do this and they had no free appointments until 5th / 6th December. We explained the situation & that we were following instructions from their staff but there was no acknowledgement of this, no empathy and no compromise. We were actually told though they could close the account & give us a cheque for the money - didn?t need an appointment for that!! Never been treated so badly by a bank - we will be closing this account & opening 2 new accounts with a bank that actually values its customers
