PetsAtHome is the worst shop in the whole of Chelmsford. I came with my children to buy a hamster and brought a large cage with me, but the sales person refused to sell because she said my cage was too small. My cage was slightly smaller in width but also 40% higher. She refused to sell because it was 7cm narrower in width.
I complained about this ridiculous policy and asked for a manager, but the manager also refused to sell the hamster. The main purpose of this shop seems to be selling their overpriced, ugly cages together with hamsters. I can buy a hamster and house it wherever I like - you have no control over where I put it afterward, so stop having this stupid illusion that you care about animals.
Your hamsters in the shop live in EVEN worse conditions with smaller cages than I have. I raised this point, but they just ignored my statement. I thought a manager would be reasonable. Instead, he was completely robotic and unprofessional. I was ready to spend at least £100 in the shop, but they rejected my business, so I bought everything I needed from another shop.
Overall, they pretend to care about animals, but you're supposed to buy only their cages - otherwise, they won't sell to you. It's not a big deal to me. I hope they close down. Rude, pathetic service.
