Very friendly staff, amazing bakery products and fresh fruit and vegetables. Short or no queues since recent self checkout installation. Love this shop.

Just need to say Andrew needs to be a bit more cheerful and respectful. A muslim customer who came wearing islamic attire, was kind towards Andrew and even cracked a joke saying lol you scan really fast and Andrew just gave him a blunt look. Then when customer finished paying he said thank you have a good day and smiled towards Andrew, Andrew ignored him.
Next customer who got served was a white caucasian lady, he greeted her and said thank you and please.
Not nice to experience subtle racism in this day and age.

Decent store but needs updating. Aldi nearby is better in my opinion and Aldi fresh produce seems to last longer. They now have self service which tempted me back but it always seems shut so you have to queue at a till anyway..

WOW, this place has progressively gone down hill massively over the past 3 years! If you want out of date products, flys on your baked goods, vegetables and fruits that are going mouldy and infested with fungus/fruit flys, staff who are very rude (especially the larger woman with glasses) and their latest shenanigans is installing self checkouts and then moaning that theft is high so now after you pay for your products and they become yours they imprison you in the shop and try to force to go through a locked gate by scanning a barcode on the receipt. Once explained that this is entrapment and that not even a shop security can physically stop anyone i was told it was their policy. I blatantly refused to be trapped and went round the manned tills instead but the bloke in question decided to run his mouth and claim it was quicker going through the locled gate. Good customer service? I think not! Just a mouthy shop worker.
This is diabolical, if you dont trust customers then dont install self checkouts! I for one wont be using this particular branch any more but will still visit the neighbouring store farmfoods where the experience is the opposite to here!
Shame as I remember when this and farmsfoods were first opened in chelmsford, there's a reason why aldi has successfully got 3 stores in Chelmsford to Lidls 1 store and they have now got another weekly customer.
