Good layout and selection of products, low staff numbers away from beauty area but they are always helpful and friendly.

OMG!! Do not go here to buy a TV ever! Very very poor service offer promotional codes then refuse to honour them when you are there. There are many places to buy a TV John Lewis Chelmsford is not one of them. Avoid!!!!

Wendy showed us around all of the different buggies and prams available to us as future first time parents. She was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about her job, very useful and gave us a good foundation knowledge for what we wanted and needed! Thank you very much!

went to buy a microwave today. nice member of staff. wanted it delivered. turned out it was a 2 man job and would cost £20. staff member very understanding and said he understood why l didn't want to pay this. His colleague came over (a much larger man) and said there maybe some microwaves more in my price range in sale. l was really embarrassed by this comment. l wanted a small microwave, as l barely use it. l didn't want to pay delivery on something that only cost £75. if l was on a low income l wouldn't be in this shop.
l get home and ordered it online and it was free delivery. so l come to store and have to pay but sit at home and its free.
again the original man helping me was lovely.

Lovely experience from Chelsea and billie at Elemis. They both provided me with in depth knowledge on what skincare products would be best for my sensitive skin. They are both an asset to the John Lewis Elemis team and I will be back to buy more products and book in for a facial soon! Thank you so much

My favourite store in Chelmsford and Leanne made my experience this week truly memorable - she is an asset to John Lewis! She went out of her way to help and guide me, with professionalism, patience & was genuinely pleasant, from beginning till end. I left with everything on my wishlist and a smile on my face, thanks to this wonderful member of Staff.

My recent visit to John Lewis Chelmsford exceeded all expectations, thanks largely to the exceptional customer service I received from Colin. His professional yet warm approach, combined with an infectious smile and genuinely positive attitude, transformed what could have been routine shopping into something truly memorable. Colin clearly possesses the gravitas and extensive knowledge you?d expect (I?m guessing he is part of the leadership team), but more importantly, he demonstrates an intuitive understanding of customer needs that sets him apart.
The Chelmsford store itself is impressively spacious, offering a shopping environment that feels comfortable rather than cramped. What particularly struck me was the excellent men?s wear section, strategically positioned on the ground floor where it rightfully belongs. This thoughtful layout stands in stark contrast to most retailers who relegate menswear to a few sparse items tucked away on upper floors or hidden at the back of stores.
In an era where online shopping dominates, experiences like this remind us why physical retail still matters. The high street survives on the quality of human interaction and the expertise that dedicated staff members like Colin provide. He doesn?t just assist with purchases; he creates connections that make John Lewis Chelmsford a destination worth visiting.
This visit reinforced my belief that exceptional customer service, combined with intelligent store design and properly trained staff, can make traditional retail not just relevant but genuinely enjoyable. Colin exemplifies everything that makes the John Lewis brand special.

Went in to check TV, didn't buy anything, on the way out alarm triggered. Security guy checked our personal bag and had to walk over multiple times, every time alarm triggered. After the security guy checked the bags fully, and then we walked out, no alarm was triggered. Fix the alarm system if it's faulty, or does the security guy manually trigger an alarm? Poor customer experience. Security guy even asked where we got our michael kors bag. Which was our own bag. This was quite rude.

Very disappointing. Bought a Rotary watch for my son and it?s broken in under 6 months. Only worn daily and not during sport, John Lewis Chelmsford and Rotary are refusing to fix it despite clearly under warranty. The face spins round annd one side of the clasp is stuck. Neither problems are obviously faults & not caused through daily wear & tear. Appalling service. Buy a watch from elsewhere.

Word of advice, wait until the customer has left before you start moaning and slaging them off.
Had a terrible experience at Chelmsford John Lewis perfume department.
Not only did I any many others have to wait for assistance because you was chatting to your colleagues for a long periord of time. One second after we left you were moaning to your colleague about us, all because we asked a few questions about the purfumes; which I thought was your job.
Very unprofessional. This was an upsetting experience. We will not be returning.

Oh well thought we would give the restaurant a second chance as our first visit was not a good experience. My husband son and myself wanted a lunchtime snack and all opted for leek and potato soup. It came with bread perfect we thought, how wrong can one be. I don't have any issues with the youngsters who were doing an excellent job of looking after customers, what I do have a problem with is the quality of the food. Our soup came beautifully presented in covered soup bowls, help yourself to bread. Thank you lovely. The soup was served from a trueen on the hotplate, not from a large soup kettle if it had been it might have been at a more pleasant temperature. Our soup was barely warm, really not appetising, very lumpy and almost congealed. I need to eat fairly regularly to enable me to take medication. I had to force myself to down some of the soup, the bread wasn't much more than a soggy lump. Not impressed. I know that because of previous experience your servers are not allowed to put things in the microwave, I was told then it is a healthy and safety issue. Totally understand that but seriously I think someone needs to check the temperature of the soup that is sold from the hotplate. I'm not sure I would risk another chance to eat anything other than a piece of cake which is a real shame, I love the store sadly not the restaurant.
