Got a small rolo brownie and an iced mocha....somehow cost £9.10(didn't realise i was charged that at first, my fault i guess). Checked the menu after...cakes are £3.50....so that means I was charged £5.60 for the iced mocha...which is ridiculous. The prices of which were not displayed in store (iced drinks are just on a promotional A board). So it appears i was either conned or overcharged one way or another. To top it off, the mocha had very little flavour and was extremely disappointing (even if it was cheaper), then cake was ok , if somewhat small.
I know it's a small , independent business and I'm all for supporting them and wishing them well. I understand about business rates, produce cost rising etc but the overcharged price combined with fairly poor coffee was just not acceptable.

Love this cafe. Only thing I don't like about it is how much money my wife spends in here ?

A lovely place with a great community feel. A cafe with play area and also a community hall to hire out the back. They have a pay it forward board too, so if you are in the position to, it's great to give something back to a visitor who might need it. Thank you for this space Myra.

Lovely outdoor play area for children, well in view so guardians can observe their children while enjoying a refreshment or snack from one of the shaded tables. Great facility.

Cheerful Chai is a lovely, community focused venue. Myra was great with providing the picnic lunch for our child's birthday party in the summer. Myra was responsive to emails, and able to fully consider allergies and intolerances for the group. I was told the lunch was 'delicious'! Thank you Myra and Cheerful Chai!

A great little cafe. Brilliant food and drink and a great atmosphere. I just wish they would open longer hours.

Lovely little cafe and venue hidden behind the angel pub.
Serving some fantastic drinks, treats and sandwiches. There?s also a great space to hire out back where you will find events and activities on regularly for all ages.

Every time I visit there is always a welcoming atmosphere. it?s clean and tidy. Staff are very friendly and the food is amazing. Definitely my favourite local place to visit for a tuna fish and cheese toastie. They also do an amazing range of cakes and other delicious dishes. Definitely worth a visit and of very child friendly.

This really is a great spot to bring little ones but our last few visits have been disappointing. The prices are just extortionate these days, I don?t recall it being this expensive last year. I understand inflation affects businesses too and I?d be more inclined to support a local business than a big chain but in the last few visits I?ve paid £5.45 for an iced latte (I saw this questioned by another reviewer but it was 5.45 for a standard iced latte) I was gobsmacked.. And also paid at least £2.50 (im not sure exactly how much) for a kids sandwich but it?s only half a sandwich? As in two slices of bread with filling and then cut in half.. who gets the other half? Why can?t we have the whole thing and let our child decide how much they want?
And things like babychinos are way overpriced, it?s just warm milk!! It should cost max 70p like most places. I don?t want to bash this place as the staff are so friendly and it?s the only place in Chelmsford that has something to occupy the kids and give parents 10-15 mins to enjoy a coffee in peace but I don?t think there is good value for money.

The place is nice, simple, near a playground and nice park.
I love to support independent businesses but cappuccino for 4,85£ is just incredibly expensive. This was the most expensive coffee I ever had.
Menu price 4.20£ plus 65p for the ?luxury?of coconut milk? It?s not like you add coconut milk on the top of the other one, it?s a substitute.
I was not informed about the coconut milk additional charge when I ordered the coffee, this is probably what was the most disappointing.
To be fair the coffee is really nice but you should be informing the customers about additional charges.
